nerrrrrrRRRRRRRRDDDDDDDDDSSSSSSSS

About Me

"A proud swift scion of the House of Roche; Quick to mete justice, above reproach, Bold, hard-headed, and fearsome in might, Clad in deerskin for warmth at night."-- from the twenty-seventh verse of my war song, wherein I defeat a thousand bears and devour their lives at the behest of the awful power gods I have allied with, who have existed since before time. Our shared consciousness transcends energy. You have no idea what I'm talking about, but you will.

My Interests

Ask me about AMAZING BARGAINS!I also like the galaxy, dinosaurs, epistemology, realism, ethics, singing and dancing, comparative religion, diaries, kindness, mechanics, bad jokes, eudaemonia, the Shakespeare controversy, libertarian political thought, warm rainy nights, impressionism, self-improvement, abnormal psych, and the Buddha. Lots of other stuff, too, that's just off the top of my head.

I'd like to meet:

Guttersnipes, tatterdemalions, flibbertigibbets, cutpurses, cutthroats, and cat fanciers

Music:

Leonard Cohen, Gustave Holst, Desmond Dekkar, Cockney Rejects, Christian Scientists playing the piano, '60s French pop, Southern Gospel, Discharge, Buddy Holly...for the past two years tho' my FM dial has been glued to the BBC. I either like something, or I don't.

Television:

Yes.

Books:

Maupassant, Mary Flannery O'Connor, Chekhov, some Hemingway but not most, Goethe, Blake, Whitman, most Saul Bellow except at the end when he was starting to go senile, all Gore Vidal, no Norman Mailer, Gogol, Joan Didion, Nelson Algren, The Discourses of the Buddha, Heidigger & Husserl, Sam Johnson, The Butterfly and the Diving Bell (Jean-Dominique Bauby), Einstein's Dreams (Alan Lightman), re-reading my journals from when I was like 13 and realizing I've gotten dumber, the Arthurian cycle, Plutarch...I dunno man, just stuff, you know? Are you impressed yet? It's just like rock band 'Jeopardy!', only for even bigger dorks, naming all these books...kvetch, cavil...

Heroes:

my teachers & my friends & my Mom

I go time travelling: The Hole

Those who have known me a while occasionally inquire about my former abode above the onramp to I-95 running out of Copley. There is, I like to think, a sort of mystique surrounding the place; the...

I go time travelling: the Moka years

A man alights from the escalator at Back Bay Station. His wingtips trod the grimy concrete as his hips swing through the turnstile. The light pouring through the windows that line the front of the sta...
