Music for the Masses!
Saturday ~ July 12
I know my profile says I'm 99 but actually, I turn 5 years old on July 12. I was conceived one late summer evening in a peace garden, over a glass of wine among friends. Thanks to the hard work, dedication and passion of a select few willing to take the risk, I was born July 10, 2004, much to the delight of the thousands in attendance. Each year, I celebrate my birthday with thousands of happy, thoughtful, peace-loving friends, over great live music, food and drink. Everyone is invited to my parties, regardless of age, ethnicity, financial status, or religion. To make everyone happy, we invite bands from every genre: rock, country, jazz, blues, folk, reggae, celtic, polkas, swing, bluegrass, tejano, cajun, and everything in between. Bands that have played for my parties include Sister Hazel, The BoDeans, Soul Asylum, Martin Zellar, Trampled By Turtles, Honeydogs, Quietdrive, The Hopefuls, The Alarmists, White Light Riot, Ari Herstand, g. b. leighton, Charlie Parr, Cam Waters, Scottie Miller, Boiled In Lead, Switchback, Six Mile Grove, I-Roots, Led Penny, Dan Israel, SUNplug'd, The Owls, Shoeless Revolution, and many more. I have two stages and my party hosts 12 bands, for 12 hours ... and only $15! If that weren't enough, I have lots of different kinds of food, beer, and wine at my party, and children's entertainment too. What's great is that if we have money left over from the party, we give it all back - from the last 4 parties, we've given a total of $60,000 to people who need it the most - tsunami victims, Katrina victims, those in need of food, shelter, health/dental care, those with special needs, A new School of Rock music therapy program for kids in the hospital, and the list goes on. It's all about loving one another and taking care of each other.
