Listening to Thievery, seeing them perform, reading about Thievery. If I sound obsessed, it's a fan page....what did you expect? This is the symbol for Eighteenth St. Lounge Records. Thievery's record label that they started out of the infamous Eighteenth St. Lounge in Washington D.C.
These guys, Eric Hilton and Rob Garza. Together, with many wonderfully talented musicians, they make up Thievery Corporation.
Or anybody who has ever worked or performed with Thievery......if you're out there let me know
Here's a little history on Thievery Corporation's begining:Rob Garza and Eric Hilton met at Eighteenth Street Lounge, the swanky DC club, in May 1995. They were introduced by a mutual friend and proceeded to discuss their admiration for the work of Antonio Carlos Jobim and the '60s bossa sound. Weeks later, in a home studio, they began to work on the music that would launch Thievery Corporation. After several early 12" singles, Thievery Corporation released Sounds From the Thievery Hi-Fi on ESL Music. That record is already considered by most to be a classic of the new electronic era.
How cool is this pic? The siloute of the one and only Rob Garza. From there this dynamic duo proceeded to create several amazing albums that, even after heavy rotation over the speakers, find their way into the sound system, something that is quite rare in my musical world. Each piece is different, yet tied together by the slick beats, pressure drop, light airy vocals, and exquisite production quality. You really can't go wrong, whether you're listening to Abductions & Reconstructions containing wonderful remixes of David Byrne, Baaba Maal, Slide Five and Black Uhuru, to name just a few. Or perhaps your in the mood for the mellower, Mirror Conspiracy which revolves around Garza and Hilton's song production, and creation, as opposed to remixes.

Albums Sounds from the Thievery Hi-Fi (1997) A true classic. Down-tempo grooves for a chilled out coctail party. Not that I advocate it, but if you enjoy a spliff or two, this is the record to light one up to. And if you've never had some one on one time in the sheets to this cd...please belive, you should. Download this: "Assault in Babylon","2001 Spliff Odyssey" The Mirror Conspiracy (2000) A very cool mix of different sounds from around the world. This cd puts me in such a relaxed and content mood. But it also makes me wish I spoke 7 different languages. But all thier cds do that. Download this: "Le Monde","Lebanese Blonde","The Hong Kong Triad"Richest Man in Babylon (2002) Holy shit do I love this cd. It is a little more rockin' and fast paced than most of thier cds. But it's politically charged themes and incredible beats are so cool. Download this, "The Richest Man in Babylon","The State of the Union","Meu Destino (My Destiny)" The Cosmic Game (2005) This cd could be my favorite. It is thier most recent studio album and it is just excellent. It features guest vocalls from David Byrne, Perry Farrell, and Wayne Coyne of the Flamming Lips. When I've seen Thievery live, the best songs of the set come from this cd. If you listen to the whole cd straight through, it's hard to imagine it all comes from one group. Truly amazing. Download this: "Revolution Solution" , "Warning Shots" "Amerimacka"Versions (2006) An all re-mix cd. It's real cool to hear what these guys do with songs by all different types of artists. Sarah McLachlan,The Doors,Herb Alpert, and The Januaries to name a few. I love this cd. I listen to it all the time. Herb Alpert's trumpet with Thievery beats, that's hot shit. Download this: "Dirty Little Secret" "Lemon Tree" "Strange Days"Singles and EPs 2001: A Spliff Odyssey (1996) Dub Plate, Vol. 1 (1996) The Foundation (1996) Lebanese Blonde (1998) DC 3000 (1999) It Takes a Thief (1999) Focus on Sight (2000) Bossa Per Due (2001) Revolution Solution Warning Shots The Heart's a Lonely Hunter Sol Tapado The Richest Man in Babylon The Lagos Communique Halfway Around the World Incident at Gate 7 Encounter in Bahia ESL Dubplate Shaolin Satellite Chaplin SwanksterCompilations Dubbed Out in DC (1997) DJ-Kicks: Thievery Corporation (1999) Abductions and Reconstructions (1999) Departures (2000) "CloudWatch : A Soundtrack to a Freeform Gathering V2"(2000) Sounds from the Verve Hi-Fi (2001) The Outernational Sound (2004) Babylon Rewound (2004) Versions (2006) Changed To Lo-Fi (2006)

Their song Indra, the third track from The Mirror Conspiracy, was featured in the opening shots of The West Wing season five episode Gaza and in an MTV (India) promo for the programme Non Stop Hits, and the Vanilla Sky soundtrack.
Their song "Une Simple Histoire (A Simple Story)" is played during a segment in Roam, a mountain biking/free riding ..ary.The group also received support from Scrubs star Zach Braff, when Braff used their track "Lebanese Blonde" on the soundtrack of his film Garden State. This resulted in boosted sales for the group after the film's release.
