Hello, I'm Matt. Sometimes people call me Mr. Shapoka. And, that's before they start smoking their crack. Afterward, they... well, let's not talk about that.
Now that we've established who I am, let's start with Matt 101 to learn about, well, me.
I'm (Current Year - 1980) years old. I just got married in July to the love of my wife. We live in a pink street on a curvy house with a few trees. As a 'job' I do geeky (suprising, I know) work at a company that designs databases for Human Resources outsourcing. In my spare time I write biographies for people on MySpace - that's why it took me a year and a half to find time to put my own About Me section up.
I grew up in the in the middle of my house, in the middle of a farm, in the middle of nowhere, nine miles from the middle of Willow Springs, MO. For most of my childhood we had a huge dairy farm, having up to a dozen cows on the farm at a time. Needless to say, it was a lot of work... even though we didn't, uh, milk them or anything.
I graduated high school as valedictorian. And, as surprised as you may be, I wasn't the only person in my graduating class.
I went to St. Louis University on a giraffe; no, I mean on a full ride scholarship. They were apparently impressed with my knowledge of pop culture. I started SLU as a Biomedical Engineering major, but finished as an alumni. My degree states 'ad gradum Scientiae Baccalaureatus in Rebus Commercii Administrandis'. In English, it means that I should've learned Greek.
After I finished school, I went home and ate a snack. Once I graduated, I got my first professional job as a waiter at a restaurant. I prided myself in doing whatever it took to please my waitees. One time that involved spilling a pitcher of ice water on a poor, hapless soul for $45. What? You would've done it too. It was the middle of the summer, it wasn't like it was cold outside or anything! I even 'apologized' and gave him a towel!
Anyway, somewhere along the lines I think I moved to Florida, got a haircut, a real job and a wife. It was during this part of my life that I invented the internet.
In my spare time, I go bowling. No not really, that was just a poor joke. In my spare time I actually go... um, now that I think about it I don't really have a lot of spare time. I hadn't really thought about it before, but it's kind of depressing. I think I'll quit my job tomorrow to free up some more of my time. So, forget that whole thing I said about my job earlier. I'm actually unemployed - my company just doesn't know it yet. (Man, I hope they have a sense of humor if they're on MySpace!)
I audio record concerts of Jen and my favorite artists when I can - check out my website for my live recordings. There's over 18,000 copies of my recordings floating around by now!
