Pondering the infinite, music, sex, death, love, hate, sunshine, zen, writing, thinking, drinking, self-hypnosis.I play bass now in a band called The Jane Greys, as well as playing my own music on various instrument-type things.
I had a huge list here but I realised most of the people I respect as artists and would like to meet would invariably disappoint me upon actually MEETING. I'd then find it hard to separate their work from their personality as I then knew it.I'd like to meet myself aged about 8 though, give myself a few words of wisdom and also tell myself what to invest in.
Depends on my mood. Sometimes whatever's on the radio, I like the unpredictability of it. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, The Pogues, The Clash, as a younger guy I loved Metallica & Slayer & Rancid, hmm Nick Drake, Moby, The Whitlams, Led Zeppelin, The Church, The Smiths, Rory Gallagher, Tom Waits, Jeff & Tim Buckley, Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Bob Marley, Clannad, King Crimson, The Decemberists, Augie March, The Go-Betweens, Dead Can Dance, Jesus & Mary Chain, all kinds of folk music, delta blues, sea shanties, rebel ballads, field hollers, ambient techno, hard bop jazz, prog metal, jangle pop, avant garde, powerful classical, cheesy pop music, TOO FUCKIN MUCH TO LIST DANGNABBIT
I don't watch many. Waking Life has been a favourite for a while, and of course The Big Lebowski.
Lots of english comedy shows basically. All the good witty ones, everything from Blackadder to Black Books to The Mighty Boosh to The Young Ones to a fuckload others. And, for the little kid within, cartoons.
Now we're talking. Too damn many. I don't really read much fiction anymore but still have a big collection. I do like messed-up fiction, the kind that feels like it gives your brain an enema. I've read most of the cliched classics too. Poetry very much heaps good be. Fave non-ficion topics include religion, history, the occult, quantum physics, sociology, true crime and comparative mythology.
What defines a hero? One mans "hero" is another mans "murdering bastard".CURRENT MOON about the moon
