About Me

DIGIPRANA Records is a brand new electronic music label from New York City launched in September 2007 by DJ/Producer and radio personality, JD Turbine of Sirius Satellite and 90.3FM in New York. Featuring seven releases scheduled for 2007 and plenty more to follow in 2008, DIGIPRANA is poised to continue connecting DJs, producers and listeners from around the world to the bleeding-edge sounds of the electronic underground.
With “The PT Project” by Lee Pennington, and “The Alloy EP” by Autophase, DIGIPRANA sets off in England, presenting the glitchy & techy, cutting-edge styles of two of the North Eastern underground’s most respected talents: Pennington, who co-produces the montly “Riffraff” party in Middlesbrough, and Autophase, producers of the weekly “Polystyrene” party in Manchester.
DIGIPRANA carries into the Fall with “The Sounds of Greece EP” by DJ Nas, who delivers four progressive and percussive-ridden, original productions direct from Athens. Zigmund Slezak of York, UK, reinterprets two of Nas’ tracks into characteristically eccentric and frenzied electro madness. Zig, whose original productions will also be released on DIGIPRANA in 2008, is also a writer for IDJ Magazine.
Before closing 2007 with original tracks and remixes by Paul Bowen, Gow, Tom Collingburn & JD Turbine, DIGIPRANA stops off in JD’s native country of Puerto Rico for a 4-track EP release: “The Sounds of Puerto Rico”. The EP will feature two productions by DJ Kermit: the top charting “NuShift” (No. 7, Richmond Pool, June 2007) as well as the captivatingly eerie “Dead Roads.” Josh Montalvo and Flavio, each contribute original cuts to the EP as well, rounding out the full deck of tech-electro beats and grooves for late-night dancing on the beach.
Featuring a loaded catalog of releases with distribution by INgrooves (Beatport, DJ Download, and more) support from Saeed Younan (“The PT Project”), and Peace Division (“Rocoloco” by Paul Bowen) on Radio One, DIGIPRANA records is already becoming a must in the CD books and digital crates of DJs worldwide.

LEE PENNINGTON - THE PT PROJECT
OUT NOW! (Beatport, DJ Download, Play-Digital)
LEE PENNINGTON
DJ/Producer, Lee Pennington has emerged from Middlesbrough, UK as one of the scene’s most dedicated and respected talents ready to seize the world stage. In the Fall of 2006, Lee’s tour of the United States brought him to the studios of 90.3FM in New York City, where he performed alongside DJs JD Turbine and Uch on Digiprana Sounds. Having found common ground in their mutual devotion to the global underground dance scene, label head, JD Turbine, and Lee agreed to release Pennington’s latest production “The PT Project” as the first single on Digiprana Records.
A fiend for forward-thinking, progressive sounds, Lee’s “PT” delivers an infectious slice of techy-electro grooves poised to hook its audience on the first listen. Lee’s reach, however, extends beyond his ability to craft innovative productions. As co-producer of the monthly “*riffraff” club events, Pennington has also established himself as a pioneering figure in the UK’s, burgeoning north-eastern underground scene.
“PT” is an ideal track to launch Digiprana Records,” said JD Turbine, “the track mixes smoothly with the electro-techy sounds, myself and DJ Uch have been supporting on our radio show for some time. We’re very excited to be releasing the track with additional remixes by Ali Kay, Zigmund Slezak, Alex Ocampo, and DJ Kermit & myself."
Watch out for Lee landing with his army of servant robots at digital download stores this September 2007.
JD TURBINE
DJ, producer, label owner and radio personality dedicated to the promotion of electronic music worldwide, JD Turbine defiantly stomps the line between electro, tech, breaks, minimal, progressive and house with his genre-bending mixes; a style he has dubbed Digiprana Sounds.
Founded by JD in 2006 and experienced through his weekly broadcast on 90.3FM in New York, as well as Sirius Satellite radio, Digiprana has become JD’s gateway to the global underground. The past year has seen Turbine steadfastly build his reputation at home and abroad with dynamic live performances in England, Miami, Canada, Baltimore, Puerto Rico and at home in New York City.
JD Turbine’s international sound has expanded on its broadcast and club roots and can now also be experienced through releases on JD’s new label Digiprana Records. Launched in September 2007, Digiprana features a hybrid of sounds including Turbine’s original productions, remixes and collaborations, as well as cuts from producers both established and new, all selected by Mr. Digiprana himself.
For JD Turbine and his global audience, Digiprana is more than just music; it’s a branded sound experience and lifestyle created by one of New York City’s most promising electronic music talents.
DJ KERMIT
DJ Kermit is one of the Puerto Rican underground’s most esteemed talents prepared to export his innovative sounds to the masses. A DJ and producer for over 6 years, Kermit is also one third of Ramey Bass—a live P.A. trio self-described as “simply the best on the island.”
Kermit and Ramey Bass, however, are not just about the live shows. In addition to working the dance floors with their twisted improvisational sets, Kermit and fellow Ramey Bass member, DJ Josh have captured the respect and attention of media outlets in their native island with their studio productions. In 2006, the duo’s track entitled “Smokin’ Electron” was picked up by Heineken to be included in a compilation of select electronic music producers from Puerto Rico.
Individually, Kermit, a guitarist, bassist and keyboardist, has produced music for a handful of short films and DVDs, most notably “Elixir,” a Playero Surf Cine production documenting the surfing lifestyle on the beaches of Puerto Rico. Kermit’s productions have also been featured on FM radio in P.R., where he has contributed to the marketing campaigns of clothing brands such as "Systeme," and has established a sound reputation for organizing electronic music nights throughout the island.
A graduate of the School of Audio Engineering residing in New York, Kermit is prepared to share with the world the sounds that regularly keep him awake to see the sun come up. “I take night life seriously, and my productions are a reflection of that.” With a remix of “The PT Project” and his latest creation, “NuShift” slated for release on Digiprana Records, Puerto Rico’s finest is determined to catapult onto the global scene with a sound created for those who know that life was meant to be lived at night.
ALI KAY
Ali's love with electronica started in 1980, when he bought his first LP “Travelogue” by THE HUMAN LEAGUE. Growing up in Europe at the time, He started listening to all pioneers of the era like Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode, DAF, New Order, and Pet Shop Boys.
His professional career as a DJ began in 1995 performing at various NY clubs as DJ ASTROGLIDE. He became a resident DJ at the popular weekly party ONE LOVE, where he played alongside DJs like KEOKI, JUNIOR SANCHEZ, JOESKI, MICRO, and many more. In the following few years he also performed at raves on the East coast and Midwest from Boston to Birmingham.

They started collaborating together on many projects that would later on be released on Ali’s label Sirenum Records, which he started in 2003. Since its inception, the label has released over fifty tracks, has signed licensing deals with Sony, Renaissance, 2Asides, Downshift Records, and has had a top ten Beatport release.

DJ NAS - THE SOUNDS OF GREECE EP
October 9, 2007 (Beatport, DJ Download, 3Beat)
DJ NAS
DJ Nas has captivated the underground dance scene in Greece with his expressive productions and performances at CLUB LUV, DANZA and SUN VISION. With his forthcoming “Sounds of Greece” EP on DIGIPRANA, Nas is prepared to showcase his emotive style across the world with four new tracks “Prepare for Launch,” “Take Me Higher,” “Eastcoast,” and “One for All.”
“I am still amazed by the idea that music created on computers can so thoroughly convey an artist’s feelings to people all over,” confessed Nas. Having studied engineering, guitar and drums in Athens, he hopes to duplicate the same success in electronic music that he enjoyed as a member of the successful punk rock outfit SHADOWS(SKIES). Nas’ newest productions are a representation of this same raw, energetic style characteristic of his work as a musician and performing DJ.
“My style ranges from house to electronica, and has evolved to also include electro and techno at times mixed with 3 turntables. The tracks on the Greece EP I think show this diversity.”
Nas’ abilities have caught the attention of Djs and Producers worldwide. Throughout his career, he has performed with Steve Angello, Phat Jack, and David Duriez, while also establishing his own club night in Athens, SUN VISION.
With remixes by Zigmund Slezak and support on Sirius Radio & 90.3FM in New York, “The Sounds of Greece” is set to introduce Nas’ Euro-grown style to North America and beyond.
ZIGMUND SLEZAK
Zigmund Slezak is a young DJ/Producer from York, England. He started Djing at the age of 16 and soon started to promote a night in York called Fine-Cut. At eighteen, Zigmund performed with friend Kevin Wright under the name of The Tribal Warriors. Zig’s first residency at The Mint Club in Leeds, UK, led to his being discovered by DJ/Producer and co-owner of Distraekt records Zimbardo. So impresed by The Tribal Warriors’ skills at such a young age, Zimbardo began mentoring the duo.
With Zimbardo, The Tribal Warriors made 'Electric' which although unsigned was a hit with the likes of US tribal jocks Midnight Society. As part of The Tribal Warriors, Zigmund also played with Distraekt records for their party @ The Miami Music Conference. Zigmund also co-hosted Distraekt Sessions radio show on Proton Radio, Pulse Radio.net and Eccentric Beats.
Now at 21, Zigmund has remixed the track 'Flux' with Zimbardo for Erase records, receiving plays from Elite Force, Dylan Rhymes, Hybrid, Flash Brothers, Deepgroove and many more. Zigs productions have also charted on DJDownload, Beatport’s Breaks chart, Balance record pool’s chart, and have made their way onto DJ19s “19 Box,” DJ Dan's “Lift 2” album, and “Summadayze” mixed by Toca Disco & Mark James.
With work on, Digiprana, Benchmarc, Full Body Soundsystem, and his own imprint C.I.A.C (Cow In A Can) Zigmund’s fan base has grown to include James Zabiela, Anthony Pappa and Murry Richardson. In his spare time, Zigmund also reviews releases for International DJ Magazine (IDJ) in the UK.
