About Me

Hello, I'm Jason Keith Platt. After spending most of my life writing stories and having varied careers ranging from restaurant chef to Telecommunications Operator in the Royal Air Force, it wasn't until the publication and complete SELL OUT of my first novel CARMICHAEL: CITY OF HEROES that I finally decided to go for it and pursue my dream. The dream of being a Writer, Actor and Director ever since I first conceived CARMICHAEL at the age of 14. Since leaving the RAF I created Big Duke Productions Ltd in Carmarthen with my sister Samantha as my co Producer and our first short film PALOOKA has been officially selected in the Swansea Bay Film Festival running from May-June 2007.With numerous short films and feature films already scripted, including a feature film version of CARMICHAEL: CITY OF HEROES, 2007 and beyond will be a very creative and productive future.

My Interests

Film is my first love but I also read a lot and listen to music. Although I own a PS2 I tend to lose interest in gaming and instead put on a DVD. Being stationed at Northwood, Middlesex during my RAF career I was only 40mins from the London West End and I travelled in on the tube, usually on my own and attended numerous plays. Sean Bean in Macbeth, Sir Ian McKellen in Dance of Death and Brian Dennehey in Death of a Salesman were three of my favourite plays I had seen in my six years of theatre.A surprise birthday treat I managed to pull of for my sister Samantha was to take her to London and see One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest starring Christian Slater and Mackenzie Crook. A great play. It brought tears to her eyes when we casually breezed by the theatre and I said 'O.K, let's go and see it.' Just as I produced two tickets.

I'd like to meet:

As a lover of film I would have loved to have met Richard Burton. An awesome actor and one who I grew up watching with my father. Stanley Baker being another. Others who I have admired in the world of film and television I have already met at Movie Conventions around the UK. These range from Star Wars actors such as Garrick Hagon, Jeremy Bulloch, Dave Prowse to the legendary Billy Dee Williams. Boyhood heroes such as Martin Kemp, Marc Singer, Carl Weathers, Dirk Benedict, Mr.T, Corey Feldman, Corey Haim, Vernon Wells, Adam West to name but a few, I have already met, strictly as a fan and not professionally for signed photographs and it was a thrill and a pleasure.People I would like to meet are, without a doubt, Tom Selleck, Kurt Russell, Bruce Campbell, Burt Reynolds, Al Pacino, Martin Scorsese, Robert De Niro, Jack Nicholson, Julie Christie, Susan Sarandon, Stan Lee, Kevin Smith, Vincent Gallo, Robert Rodriguez, Jean Claude Van Damme, Elizabeth Taylor, Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Tilly, Naomi Watts. Seeing Sean Bean, Sir Ian McKellen and Brian Dennehey on stage was an awesome experience and I would love to have the opportunity to one day work with them.

Music:

Rock is my world. My CD collection is mostly 60% Movie Soundtracks, 30% Rock and 10% shit that maybe only one song on the whole CD is the reason I bought it in the first place. AC/DC, Bon Jovi, Alter Bridge, Logan, Supergene, Motley Crue, Iron Maiden, Thunder, Whitesnake, Nickelback are just a small selection of my favourites.

Movies:

Where do I begin? I can list the directors and you can make up your own minds as to what I like. Alfred Hitchcock, Sam Peckinpah, John Carpenter, Walter Hill, Kevin Smith, Robert Rodriguez, John Woo, Quentin Tarantino, Michael Mann, Clint Eastwood, John Boorman and Sam Raimi. If I had to select my favourite movies it would be too hard, below is just a random list of movies I love. Of course, this list is open to debate and change. In no particular order- Die Hard, Heat, Where Eagles Dare, Big Trouble in Little China, White Heat, The Killer, Extreme Prejudice, Smokey and the Bandit, Bond, The Thing, Six String Samurai and Plan 9 from Outer Space.

Television:

Magnum p.i, The Saint, Life on Mars, Sharpe, V, Manimal, Smallville, 24, My Name is Earl, Battlstar Galactica(original), The A-Team, Street Hawk, Knight Rider, Airwolf, Blue Thunder, T.J. Hooker, Riptide, Hunter, Murder She Wrote - to name but a few. I could really go on all day.

Books:

I am a lover of all the classics. The Count of Monte Cristo, Frankenstein, The Time Machine, The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, Sharky's Machine, Where Eagles Dare, Shadow of the Wind, A Prayer for Owen Meaney. Again I could go on.

Heroes:

Not one for the full on hero worship. I have my favourite Actors and Actresses and personalities and I have listed them above but I would prefer to list my favourite heroes. Daredevil, Batman, Green Arrow, Superman, Spider-man, Iron Man, The Punisher, The Sandman, Ghost Rider, Luke Cage, Bullseye, Mysterio. The ladies of course being Supergirl, Spider-woman, Death, Delirium, Tank Girl and last but not least, Wonder Woman.
