EXCUSE ME BIOGRAPHY
No Doubt's manic blend of rock, ska, reggae, punk, and new wave has made a serious mark in modern music. The California based band changed the musical landscape in the 1990’s. Their sound, high-energy shows, and creative style captivated people. The band has a twenty year history and has moved millions of loyal fans all over the world. Their lead singer, Gwen Stefani, has also broken many barriers in a music industry still primarily dominated by men. Today, she is known as one the most iconic, powerful, and respected artists. It is no wonder that paying tribute to No Doubt is much deserved and an immense challenge!
Excuse Me was founded back in January 2004 when lead singer Nicole de Waal decided to put together a No Doubt tribute band that did them justice. The search for talented, extraordinary people and the right chemistry was on. She was determined. After many auditions, different musician line-ups, and challenges it came together in 2005.
Similar to Gwen, Nicole's powerful voice, magnetic personality and freedom during live performances draws audiences in. She captivates people and allows Excuse Me cross-gender appeal. The other Excuse Me band members effortlessly fulfil their role in the band as well. Like a fateful coincidence, they possess many characteristics of their real No Doubt counterparts! Introducing: charismatic and energetic Jasmine Maldonado jumping and dancing on stage while rocking the bass; natural born rock star and talented cutie Jay Reid half naked behind the drums wearing black lipstick; technical and experienced Jim O'Gara on guitar moving to the groove; as well as multi-talented heartbreaker Jaclyn Mitgang, pounding away on the keyboards and harmonizing beautifully with Nicole.
The band was named after the powerful and punky No Doubt song "Excuse Me, Mr." The songs in-your-face message represents this strong and edgy NYC-based band perfectly. It is simply hard to over look them; these five talented, hard working individuals are such passionate musicians and entertainers. They have a natural driving force and know how to light up a stage.
Recognized for their high energy, uplifting and visually stimulating shows, Excuse Me stands out in the ever growing tribute scene. They are not just a cover band, they deliver an explosive tribute show! They interpret No Doubt's music like no one else; people just love their fun, honest and relatable performances. The band successfully delivers the essence of No Doubt while still holding their own.
Some of Excuse Me’s highlights include the headlining post "Madison Square Garden Gwen Stefani After-Party†show at legendary B.B. King Blues Club in NYC's Times Square in 2005. “That special show was a real honor for us to play. Hundreds of No Doubters were jumping, singing, and dancing along with us. Performing live, interacting and connecting with people through music is the reason we do this!†Nicole says. In 2006, they toured and playing unforgettable venues such as House of Blues in Cleveland, Ohio, the historic Arcadia Theater in St. Charles, Illinois, CBGB's in New York City, and The Chance Theater in Poughkeepsie, NY. In 2007, they played at the legendary Canal Room in NYC and they were flown out to perform in San Juan, Puerto Rico to perform at Hard Rock Café and Senor Frogs. Today, the band continues on their journey and they are taking it one show and opportunty at a time. Their dream is to do a California tour, including a special show in Anaheim, the home of No Doubt!
