'There's been nothing really menacing so far. There's a pervading sense of niceness which is continued with the next singer's first words: 'Thank you - you're fucking grand', but in hindsight it was probably 'Thank You - we're Cobra Grande'. In fact their bass heavy atmospherics are this evening's trip to the dark side. A heavily percussive backbone (think Nine Inch Nails) ticks ominously in the background while brash and unashamedly Scottish vocals sneer at us. Scallywags, Musos and brooding types alike will find something that pleases, and that's why they'd go down so well at T in the Park.' - (T Break)
‘With the end of Policechief it's up to Cobra Grande to lead the way in dance rock. With a Eurodisco beat, rollicking bass and screaming guitars, opening song Lovers will Something of a welcome return for dancesmiths. There's a touch of early Human League about them and Cobra Grande have their snake hips on and beats that can't fail to make you want to dance. But second song Get To Heaven shows they haven't turned into the Scissor Sisters with some nice raw guitars over a slower tempo. Final song Eyes is back to the Eighties sound loved by everyone from the Kaiser Chiefs to Kylie right now. The lyrics let them down in places but it settles into another decent track with good harmonies and some nice guitar work. Cobra Grande just get better and better.' - (Daily Record)
'THREE support acts before the main attraction made for a somewhat over-generous bill of fare on Monday night. Openers Cobra Grande nonetheless made a strong impression, with their astringent vocal harmonies, disaffected attitude and melodic heart.' - (The Scotsman)
‘THOSE electro rockers Cobra Grande have sent me a wee preview of their latest tracks. A favourite at Soundcheck the three new tunes showcase their ever increasing musicianship. Sun Xplodes is blissed-out Screamadelica travelling in a Ferrari down a freeway in Florida. Scrunching the Miami Vice tune with early Human League, it's not even the strongest of the songs. That goes to the Asian-beat tinged The Void. A paranoid letter of love, it slithers into your brain. Third track 237 Heaven hoofs up the tempo, making a twisted pop song complete with rock guitars. Not bad for an instrumental. The Cobras do it again. - (Rick Fulton, Daily Record)
