I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace)Recently Bona Phide and Peter Day formed a new project called Black Belt Jonezin. They have incorporated some of the best local talent around to form this new live project. On the wheels of steel is none other than DJ Green whose turntablism brings a unique dynamic to the group, Peter Day who is rediculous on drums, Dan Ristrom who comes up with some of the most innovative Hip Hop bass lines, Father Time the one n only on the keys, and Mitch Quist who was born to play guitar BBJ style. We have the dopest horn section in town with the one and only Aaron Weiner on the trumpet, and the legendary Jazzman himself Dan Kusz on sax! Long time friend and co emcee Idara has teamed up with Bona Phide to front BBJ. The chemistry when they all get together is undeniable.
They have worked with an elite list of local and national talent. They have been featured on the City Pages A List twice in 2006, and have been met with growing audiences at every show they have done in their short history. They have performed with groups such as:
Slug from Atmosphere. RA the Rugged Man. Icon the Mic King. DJ Rectangle. The New Congress. Leroy Smokes. Inebriation. I Self Devine. Moochy C. 2 Live Crew. The Kamillion. GOB. Musab. Unknown Prophets. Copasetic. Nathan Miller Band. Heatbox. Mad Heat. Big Quarters. Melody Beats. Prof N Rahzwell. Outside. Grimy n Camino. Golden. SP Styles. Dapo. RDM. Tango Town Ent. DJ Green + EMS. Truth Maze. Project 13. Root City Band. Trama. 13 Hertz. Capaciti. Carnage. Desdamona. Concentrate. Mo Rocco. T La Shawn. Tony Bonez n Big Wiz. Rek the Heavyweight. Set the Smith. Cleavage 2 Beaver. And many many more.
Be on the lookout for the upcoming release of the Black Belt Jonezin Project.
"Black Belt Jonezin is the dopest live hip-hop band coming out right now! Anyone who doubts their hip-hopness can check for X-Cal on the cut, real enough for ya? thought so! Pete and Dan are some seriously talented musicians and Bona Phide kicks it mean with his rugged low vocals and storyteller rhymes.
They have been working on their record at Tablesyrup Studios with E and joints like "10 and 2" (song about driving intoxicated) and "Bona Phide Anthem" are straight up burners. Don't sleep on this band cuz they will get your ass shaking and head nodding, no playing the wall allowed!"
