Senior Pastor, Rev. Melvin Wilson has been the pastor of St. John Baptist Church Third Street Lawrence, Pennsylvania for 30 years. He received his call into ministry under the pastoring of the late Bishop Freeman Wilson, Church of the Living God, Clarksville, Pa. He is the son of the late Rev. Andrew Wilson and the late Carabelle Wilson. Rev. Wilson, has formerly pastored in Fairchance, Pa. Cardale, Pa., and at the First Baptist Church of Pitt Gas, Pa. He and his wife, Co-Pastor Geraldine Wilson are residents of Lawrence Pa.
Pastor Wilson is a past graduate of the Shiloh Bible Institute with a diploma in Ministerial studies, and yet is a teacher of the gospel unmatched by any others. His wisdom has been tapped into by many up and coming "preachers", and pastors and by those who have recognized his ability to deliver the word of God so that it brings "CHANGE" to everyone that will hear and receive it. Pastor Wilson has ordained 4 clergy during his pastoring, along with 2 deacons from the St. John family alone and has sat on the review board for numerous ordination processes.Rev. Melvin is also the Moderator of the Ohio Valley District Union, a position he has held for several years. He is also the CEO and founder of "THE WAY" ministries, which is a non-profit, faith based ministry established to not only meet the needs of those in the communities that he is based in, but to bring forth "CHANGE to the hearts of men, through the light of the word".Pastor Wilson's project, "The Way" Corporation is a non-profit organization established in the late 1990s to bring change to the communities of Greene and Washington Counties in Pa. and will be soon be based out of St. John Ministries to offer hope to the community of Lawrence Pa and it's surrounding towns.St. John is currently making plans to undergo a major building project within the next 2 years with a new structure to be built on the current grounds owned by this ministry.
