About Me
Some believe you get out of life only what you put in. If that is the case, then it is little wonder that rising Bosnian disc-spinner DJ Alex is starting to reap the rewards of his floor-filling sets warming crowds for techno luminaries such as Umek, Marko Nastic and Valentino Kanzani.
Aleksandar Glisic aka DJ Alex comes from the busy breeding ground that is the DJ scene of South Eastern Europe, where his hard slog carving out a name alongside regular hometown play-mates Sinisa Tamamovic and Mladen Tomic (Night Light Records: Banja Luka) has earned him a place on the up escalator to bigger crowds in Bosnia and surrounding European nations.
With his electro and minimal house sets, Bosnian Alex, 23, couldn’t be better placed to benefit from the dance explosion in the Balkan region. As well as being the seat of power in Republika Srpska, Banja Luka is rapidly becoming party central for techno and minimal lovers, staking its claim alongside the region’s other club zones Skopje, Sarajevo, Ljubljana and Zagreb.
Since attending his first techno parties in 1999, Alex was hooked. Using borrowed equipment and blagging lifts to parties, he got his first DJ gigs in 2003, securing residencies at cafes in Banja Luka. Two years later he had made enough money to buy the decks he had coveted in trade magazines, and stocked up on his already growing collection of vinyl.
That was the start of a seemingly endless string of gigs on the Bosnian party circuit, developing his style, reputation and record collection! Now with experience under his belt with some of techno’s leading lights, Alex is ready to move to the next chapter in his career.
Alex namechecks some of the region’s major players as key influencers who have propelled him this far… and look set to take him further still: Sinisa Tamamovic, Pacco, Mladen Tomic, Alexander Koning, Marko Nastic, Valentino Kanzyani, Dejan Milicevic, Thomas Schumacher, Guy Gerber, Sven Vath, John Tejada, Steve Bug, Oliver Huntemann, Stephan Bodzin, Tiga, Tiefschwarz, Oxia, Mark Romboy, Preach.
