Harlem

The begining of Harlem is dated to the year 1993. It consisted of 4 musicians: Ryszard "Rudy" Wolbach – vocal solo, accoustic guitar, Krzysztof "Dzawor" Jaworski – guitars, Jaroslaw "Jarcys" Zdankiewicz – drums and Wieslaw Salata – bass guitar. In 1994 Wieslaw was replaced by Stanislaw Czeczot, with whom Harlem gained its characteristic sound. In 2001-2002 Radek Zagajewski joined the band as a bass guitarist. From 2002 until now Harlem is playing with Wojciech “Puzon” Kuzyk, who is famous for playing with Kasia Kowalska, Urszula and Tadeusz Nalepa. Harlem is a group which is situated on the polish rock scene somewhere between Dzem and Perfect, two great bands with characteristic style. It is not strange then, that Harlem performed on the greatest polish scenes like Opera Lesna in Sopot; Przystanek Woodstock, Zary; Festiwal Polskiej Piosenki in Opole; Olsztynskie Noce Bluesowe; Stadion Gwardii, Warszawa; Stadion, Chorzow and much more. Harlem is often invited to the motorbike rallies and it is very well-known guest there. The debute of the band was the first CD, “Lustra”, songs from which are played on every concert of the group. Songs like “Hedone”, “5:30”, “Blues o zdradzie” or “Bingo” are always performed with the enthusiastic audience during performances. The second CD was recorded in 1998 and titled “Bezsenne noce”. It brought next great hits such as “Kora” and “Jak Lunatycy”(performed with Krzystof Cugowski). The following disc was “Amulet” which appeared in 2000. The special guest on this record was Maciej Balcar, whose characteristic voice can be heard in such songs as “Biegne” or “Wierze w siebie”. In 2004 the fourth CD was published to celebrate 10th birthday of the group. It was titled “Ten Harlem” and consisted of the best hits of Harlem. In March of current year the newest CD with the title “Niebo nade mna” appeared. Of course there are special guests on the record, like Dean Bowman, Maciej Balcar and Piotr Cugowski so the music becomes more spohisticated and create this special style from which Harlem is so well-known. Songs “You’re in love again” and “Przywitaj ze mna nowy dzien” are already well known and appreciated by rock listeners not only in Poland.
