Originally playing in small middle eastern countries (until offending extremists in some oil producing nation by dressing as a towering Mohammed on 10 ft. stilts while playing an electric sitar while also wearing a veil and munching on pork rinds in cadence to the tune of Handels Messiah . That was not the problem. As a part of the encore we showered the audience in 20 lbs. of Bacon Bits! Apparently this is a no no in the middle east! So not too long after that we wound up in Vegas ( with a contarct on all of our heads!) backing Alfredo Fetucine's Italian/Bavarian Polka Band until 2006 when we were asked to be the full time band at the Back Yard (until an order by the city health department to vacate the premises due to a cholera outbreak). We now play for 2-3 hours Monday- Saturday 8:00-? to a 3/4 capacity crowds at the county wide renowned Back Yard II. If you are passing through be sure to come and see The Weeds at the Back Yard!
Some Info on the songs:
The Magnificient Omnicient: came from our Mid Eastern tour in Iraq,Iran, Afhanistan, Pakistan als known as our Desert Oasis Tour 2000 (Pre-fall of Hussein). We were doing a ballet/electronic symphony that included 15 foot rhinestone cowboys dancing around a burning tumble weed. We were singing an encore of Happy Trails when the then president for life muttered something that translated as " What magnificent omnicient created this band of baboons!" I think there may be a compliment in there somewhere!Indian Summer:
Our Drummer, Aynsley Roma, the oldest member of the band (62) spent 3 years in a Scottish Prison for attempting to smuggle part of Hadrians Wall back to the US. His plan of shipping the wall failed before he could hack out the 300 foot section of protected property. The park authorities arrested him before the first blow of the chisel and hammer. During his stay at Glasgow Pen, he met a folk musician named Mahavishnu Macgoo, a kilt wearing Buddhist who enlightened him in the art of stream of conciousness playing. This piece is named for the skies he saw outside of his prison cell during those last few autumn months before he was released.Tropicalia:
This piece is a live improvisational piece which has been played for as long as 40 minutes with accompanying light show and mock meteor shower. It is in a constant state of composition.Neural Link:
Small part of a conceptual work for Audio/Video still in development.Knockin on Heavens Door:Tha bands sometime vocalist is a chronic hypochondriac. He is always on deaths doorstep. This song was recorded when he was positive his death was near from HPV.Something's alive down there...:This song was recorded in May of 07 after our bass player was rescued from a spelunking incident where she was lost in a local cavern for 15 days. She subsided on stalactites and bats. When she was finally rescued she repeatedly muttered "There's something alive down there" . After investigating the caverns, an elderly man was discovered in the deepest parts of the cavern. He wandered into the cave around 1932 with some yogurt and a flute. Needles to say he subsided on yogurt and flute playing for all of those years. He also appears in the recording playing flute and mumbling.Bucket Parts 1 and 2:What is the most important part of a bucket?
