Icarus Falls

Since Icarus Falls took form in September 2004 there have been many changes, both to the band lineup and musical direction. Original members Danny (lead vocals and founding member) and Chris (lead guitars) are still present, having formed a stable core of like-minded musicians. The lineup is now completed by Jonny (2nd lead guitars), Shirezy (bass guitars) and Martin (drums and percussion).
Icarus Falls draws its main influences from bands such as Iron Maiden, Dream Theater, Edguy, Stratovarius and Freedom Call. We write power metal with a contemporary edge, with some heavier elements inspired by more recent heavy metal, with roots firmly in the epic riffs and powerful vocals of the 80's New Wave of British Heavy Metal and the succession of power and prog-metal it inspired.

We initially experimented with covers of Dream Theater, Iron Maiden, Blaze Bayley and Megadeth songs to find our own path, which has evolved into an amalgamation of elements from all these artists.
As a vocalist I draw my inspiration particularly from Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden and Eric Adams of Manowar, both in vocal style and stage presence. I've Alice Cooper and Dan Durrant of Conquest of Steel to thank for the idea of the gladius sword prop for Legionarii.
Chris was highly recommended to me by Mark Tobin (Vocals, Against the Grain), and after a conversation online and hearing his demo I knew he was exactly what the band needed. Beyond being an amazing heavy riff writer and soloist, his style has a great range of influences; he chose to mention Dream Theater, Joe Satriani, Paul Gilbert and Tony Macalpine for this bio.
In early 2005 we were joined by Jonny on 2nd lead, rather than rhythm. Jonny's too good to be a rhythm guitarist, his flair and technicality would be wasted. He now shares lead and rhythm sections, dual guitar harmonies and trades solos to great effect.
Bassist Shirezy joined us in late 2005 and has brought a new edge to Icarus Falls, with his pounding melodic slap influenced bass lines providing a solid backbone to the band.
Drummer Martin joined us in January 2006, and his technical ability has taken the sound of the band further than we thought possible. His influences include Vinnie Paul, Nick Menza, Mike Portnoy and Simon Phillips.
