long, deep conversations that occur spontaneously and acknowledging their importance within the moment, LA history, tourism where I reside, but also super tourism in foreign locales (sign me up for that tour!), picnics, dinner parties and drinking at home, belgian beer, museum stores, having a variety of dipping sauces (for food and in life), mcsweeney's publications, dave eggers books, guacamole composed only of avocados, lemon or lime and salt, trader joe's baked blue corn tortilla chips with their guacamole (less guilt when I eat that for dinner), peace and quiet, keeping my love of trashy magazines like Cosmo a secret(oops), dance, singing and cheerleading competitions, musical television show episodes, contradictions, sardonic retorts, ethnic cuisine, homemade tortillas, immersion blenders + homemade soup, old school video games, finding the cheapest gas in southern california, the culinary arts, skilled non-asian chopstick handlers, googling to increase my knowledge, high-thread-count sheets, british humo(u)r, verbal sparring, hearing "Last Christmas" by Wham and "All I Want For Christmas (Is You)" by Mariah Carey on the radio around the holidays, hating on bad fashion and/or hipster trends (which must mean I'm just masking my insecurities), frolicking, cracking dirty jokes with my grandma, red wine, making dinner, people who read, funky meats, brie (or just cheese, every kind, even the ironic kind, like Love Songs On The KOST - I've never met a cheese I didn't like), spending friday nights in front of the tv or drinking with my parents, the ability to rock shit, people who take obsession to unimaginable knowledge, delicious obscure restaurants (notice the food trend? I really like food)
I'm trying a kinder, gentler approach. Here's a dislike list.
those who call themselves "Buddhist" because they think it means they're "zen," but haven't really done their research, and as long as we're talking religion, those who call themselves "spiritual but not religious" are annoying, too. anyone so insecure in themselves that they must befriend everyone in the world on a superficial level to feel validated and popular (are we in junior high school? I like being discerning), people who sing along with the performer at concerts! (because, a - is that your name on the marquee? I don't remember buying a ticket to see YOU, and b - if you wanted to hear yourself sing, why didn't you save the money and sung along to the CD in your car instead?), mediocrity, general apathy, hypocrisy, people who talk during movies and concerts, fakeness, small talk, the term "making love," cheesy LA bullshit, plastic surgery, fake tans, acrylic toenails, clothes on animals, anyone who claims to be "different," but just looks like all those other "different" people, improper/bad/incorrect grammar (although I'm trying to not be all crazy about it, since I can never remember the rules for words like "lay" and "lie"), bad spelling, the way people abbreviate words like "you're" and "you" to "ur" and "u," respectively, on IM or text messages, "celebrity," chain restaurants (esp. olive garden and cheesecake factory), sleazy guys in bars, people in thrift store threads that still smell like thrift store, wal-mart, digital pictures taken in the bathroom mirror of oneself, bad hygiene, chapped lips, clutter, dirt, trendy chinese character shit, butterfly/tribal tattoos, cheesy industry people, all problems - no solutions, spineless wimpsters, usurpers, entitlement, too much drama, those who have no sense of humor about themselves, anyone who feigns interest to fit in with the cool kids... on that note, sign me up as fan club president for the next buzz band! someone told me they're really good and I'm on a quest to be their number one fan...and maybe their groupie. awesome.
