For pop-rocks new sound, search no further. The Lift has all the ingredients of a fresh popular mix, marrying melodic and contagious hooks with colorful instrumental parts...but the music doesn't stop there. The band pays tribute to rock, jam, blues, and even jazz. Centered in the Albany area, their popularity has grown exponentially over the past two years. They have developed a devoted fan base in the region by proving themselves through energetic live performances, which incorporate improvisation, cover-teasing, and superb vocal harmony.
Mike, Matt, James and Dennis have come a long way since their first year of playing impromptu concerts at Siena College. They have since shared the stage with major-label and nationally touring bands such as Guster, Lifehouse, The Format, Zox, Badfish and Making April.
The band went into the studio in spring, 2006, completing and releasing their 13 track debut album, Once
(available on amazon.com) . Since Once's debut, The Lift has completed their first tour, made numerous appearances on WVCR 88.3 The Saint (ranked fifth in the nation by The Princeton Review), and been put in rotation daily on the popular Albany radio station.
Since then the band has released their new FREE Spring EP consisting of five tracks, including the popular favorites, Graduation Song and Freedom Day. The Spring EP is available on the website for download; click here .
The Lift has always believed strongly in self-reliance, hard work, and allowing the music to speak for itself.
