Difficile invece trovare una definizione adatta alla quarta formazione che si è esibita, ovvero i romani Nastro. Il loro sound è davvero molto particolare e non saprei come altro etichettarlo se non con il termine "art rock noise sperimentale", anche se mi rendo conto che certe definizioni confondono un po' le idee. Ho comunque seguito solo a tratti la loro caotica (in tutti i sensi...) performance perché il genere proposto non mi faceva impazzire, ed era abbastanza fuori contesto in un festival del genere. A loro va la palma di "gruppo con il cantante (in questo caso cantante/bassista...) peggio vestito", guardare le foto per credere!

Nastro are a local new-wave disco Band/act that makes me think of Throbbing Gristle: that means punk (meant as crazy, experimental, different) cachophonic discipline, with effected vocal mic, obsessive, drumming and drum machine, wrench guitar, an out-of-tune V bass guitar - somehow a dumb performance, with a slight taste for danceable rythms; - of course we're not anymore into late 7os, and we seen it all, and be sure that italian (indie) venues are not all that enough crowded places to praise and push on the musicians or so-called on stage, - and people nowdays won't flinch or dance even if You do something genre, even if well done as Nastro did last night through a short set.

I Nastro sono un parallelo di Laser Tag, Oblomov e +, a mio parere la miglior proposta new-wave sporca di elettronica analogica in circolazione, - senza snobbismi da dark o batteristi sostituiti da drum-machine. - Basso in primo piano, con Manuel alla voce perso nell'eco di un delay corto, batteria con ritmi quasi dance-floor, due tre tastiere e a sporcare di elettronica e chitarra grattata nella distorsione. Manuel e Flavio in uniforme a tema, N scotchata à la Diabolik, con il primo che si dimena e pratica l'autoipnotismo sonoro, - speravo di vedere Manuel gettarsi per terra animale da palco come lo vedo, ma niente, - però poi a verso fine concerto scompare dietro le quinte per tornare con un tamburo e fare doppia batteria col Vono Box. Bei ritmi, bell'underground. Un buon revival senza puzzare di vecchio.

Gruppo che mi ha molto entusiasmato nel vero senso della parola sono stati i NASTRO, gruppo romano che propone un electro-postwave (con influenze industrial stile THROBBING GRISTLE e a tratti power noise) frizzante. Il modo di cantare del cantante ricordava molto i DEVO ed i BEASTIE BOYS, sono un grande gruppo, e sono sicuro che avranno una carriera gloriosa nel futuro.

NASTRO is a new band from Rome which got some attention for having supported the American group BLACK ICE. At first they shock a bit with their strange aesthetics, something reminds me of the ‘80 white rap bands like BEASTIE BOYS, but when they start playing they shock even more because of their very particular musical proposal. Really crazy, they play something like No-Wave or Art Rock, but trying to definite their style it’s absolutely hard. Very good music, a fanatical vocal approach and really well playing musicians, that is what emerges of this uncommon band. In the last song they reach their top, with the singer using a floor tom as timpano, while the guitarist gives his guitar to the public to play, even though the effects used are so heavy that anything you do on the instrument results in a square and rich noise. The only thing that makes me sad is that NASTRO hasn’t released any demo until now I could buy!
