Preteen star Alexa Melo is a singer and songwriter, actor and dancer. She was born in Massachusetts, and is now living with her family in Los Angeles. She began singing and acting on stage at the age of 6 and has been described as a vocal prodigy, and gifted songwriter.Melo has appeared in eight television shows, including NBCs Maury Povich Show (2004), where she was featured as a child singing sensation, as well as PAX Channels Americas Most Talented Kids(2005), where she won the Diva episode as the youngest contestant. Recently, she appeared in Showtimes Sleeper Cell as the anthem singer. Alexa has appeared in several national television commercials and print-ad campaigns.Melo won over-all soloist against 250 adult performers in the New York Music Festival (2005) and has been the over-all winner in dozens of other competitions. She has performed live for Radio Disney, Showstoppers, and Friends of Broadway and sings the national anthem for major league games. Alexa is currently an A.O.P. (on air personality) at KWAV.BIZ (Kids With a Voice) the official independent kids music supporter. She was the first independent artist of the month and is still currently.Melo receives extensive vocal training from World Renown Billy Purnell. She also receives training in Hollywood from John Homa, an acclaimed acting coach to General Hospital, and such actors as Jennifer Love Hewitt and Kirsten Dunst. Melo is also being trained in hip hop dance at the famous Millennium in Los Angeles by G. Madison Philips IV. She attends the School of Pop, run by two time Grammy nominee and hit song writer Alex Cantrell, where she studies performance, songwriting, and dance. Melo is a featured soloist in concerts held at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood where she sings her original songs.
