About Me

I started to play the piano when I was as old as 13-14 yrs of age, after having dreamed to play that amazing instrument which to me seemed so full of soul and of opportunities. For years and years I had bored myself to death with an electric organ, which seemed more lifeless than a dead fish.... So, having convinced my mother that to play the PIANO was really what I wanted; she finally bought me one (Thank you mom!!) and my long-wanted dream could now become real. It didn't take long for me to find out that this was the one and only instrument for me, and I became a devoted pianostudent right away - as well as a passionate lover of the piano's possibilities. And; Oh! the possibilities....... My pianistic career now started to take form. I went to a music high school for 3 yrs, and after that I started to play in pianobars around the Trondheim area. Finally, having had enough of that, I started studying music at the NTNU and I was very fortunate to get to study with pianists like Vigleik Storaas and Ivar Antonsen. I finished my master's degree in 2007, with a paper on Mary Lou Williams, transcribing and analyzing her pianosolos. A few yrs ago, I started to explore my voice, and jobs like singing/playing in pianobars went on for a period. I also wanted to write songs of my own, and I'm still trying to find my personal expression among all the different streams around us. What I have is my piano and my voice, and a need to express myself through those tools......

L. Williams, some Bill Evans, Dianne Reeves, Carmen McRae, Chet Baker, Miles D....Also pop and folk music, "piano-pop", The Corrs, and "stayers" like Eva Cassidy and Elvis "The-one-and-only" Presley. But have these artists or this music influenced MY music? Well, hard for me to say.. . .But really; anything that sounds good at the moment!
