I have a need for speed! I like fast cars (driving them in particular), speedskates, etc and anything that gives a good rush. I guess you could say that I like to live on the edge. There is a saying, "There are old pilots and there are bold pilots but there aren't any old, bold pilots". I've been tapering off a little bit on "the edge" lately. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to live a boring life but my desire for self-preservation is getting stronger the older I get... (Anyone who knows me knows what I'm referring to, heh)
In my limited free time, I'm pursuing my dream of becoming a professional driver. That path has been a little slow this summer but in the fall/spring, it'll be in full swing. I know all the right people now, I just need to get adequate track time. My dad raced on the semi-pro circuit on his super bike before I was born, I want to give my dream a shot like he did. At least if it doesn't work I can say I pursued my dream. Most people don't actually pursue theirs and I don't want to grow old and regret never giving it a fighting chance. I've found a future sponsor and was given some very good advice to shorten the path to my goal recently. Things are looking up, I only have a few road blocks left and once I clear them, I'll give it my best shot!
As for work, I am a Senior Mortgage Loan Consultant for National City Mortgage. I love my job! On October 2nd, 2006 I reached the first of many goals, I am now working for a bank! I've been with the bank for three days as of this update and I can already tell that I will be here for a long time! There is so much opportunity for a hungry/motivated loan officer and I have a great mentor (a major component I was missing) finally! I get paid to talk on the phone and help people with their financing needs all day. It's more than I can say about being a Software Engineer. Don't get me wrong, it paid really well (this job has no ceiling actually) but I can honestly say that I didn't get much job satisfaction and became disenchanted with the profession about 2 years before I switched into sales. A 100% commission job is kinda scary but it's not so bad if you have a good work ethic. I spend 60 hrs/week at my job currently, that'll taper off a little down the road but like any investment, the more principal you start with, the more dividends you get down the road!
