Johnny Rizk

A young rising trance talent from Beirut...

About Me

At only 23 years old, Johnny Rizk is a rising talent from the heart of what was once called as the Paris of the Middle-East: Beirut - capital city of the fun loving country of Lebanon.
Johnny Rizk has long appreciated music since he was a very young boy. From the early age of 5, he started listening to whatever music his hands could get hold of: from classical, oriental music to early 1990's pop. Soon old enough, Johnny began listening to house music and as his teenage years passed one after another he explored artists such as The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, Sash, Paul Van Dyk, Ferry Corsten, Armin Van Buuren and many others.
His growing taste and appreciation of music pushed him to start DJing by himself from his bedroom (as many famous DJs started) as early as the age of 11. He created a home made dj set that consisted of a sony discman, a tuner, a cassette deck and his home hi-fi stereo as his "mixer" or sound amplifier. Practicing over and over again with his simple yet effective equipment he soon knew how to beatmatch two songs without any pitch control, just by using his ears and selecting close songs with similar BPM.
At the age of 18, Johnny Rizk joined the Middle East's biggest radio network Mix FM where he worked as a shows producer and a DJ for almost 5 years. It was there that he refined his skills and was given the chance to play in the biggest festivals and parties with audiences of over 4,000 people.
In November 2006, Johnny warmed up for Ferry Corsten in Beirut during a pre-party for a main concert. Clubbers from the event gave him great reviews all over internet forums.
In February 2007, Johnny was flown to Egypt by MTV Asia in association with Motorola for their Motoalert party. His set was described as "unforgettable" and "unique" thanks to his unmatched DJing Skills. Usually Egyptian clubs close at 2am, but with this party it stayed open until 4am!
In March 2007, Johnny Rizk produced the mashup called "Good To Love You More" a mix of two tracks by Armin Van Buuren and Above And Beyond. Unsigned to any label and without any promotion, it has reached thousands of people all around the world via online internet communities and received amazing reviews from clubbers and trance fans all over the world.
Johnny has been working in the studio since summer 2007 and will be revealing his first productions and remixes in early 2008.
In February 2008, Johnny launches his long awaited worldwide radio show entitled "Outbreak" on Afterhours.fm and the show will be broadcast every first sunday of the month at 17:00 GMT.
