About Me

I tend to spend most of my spare time, watching 1940s american film noir. When I'm not watching it I quite like reading about it; those involved, the theory, the technical side and the pot-boiler pulp fiction that spawned it.I have no other interests.I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4

My Interests

Film noir, neo-noir, post-noir, the chronicles of noir-nia.

I'd like to meet:

Fred MacMurray, Bogart and Bacall, Robert Mitchum, Raymond Chandler, Jane Greer, Ladd and Lake and of course Edward Dmytryk. But mostly Barbara Stanwyck...

Music:

Jazz, Betty Boo, the blues, jazz-blues, country-blues, the occassional torch song placed in the middle of a film noir to appease the leading lady, uk garage.

Movies:

Double Indemnity, Out of the Past, the Blue Dahlia, the Black Dahlia, the Killers, The Big Sleep (1946), The Big Heat, The Big Combo, The Big Steal, Big, Hollywoodland, Brick, This Gun For Hire, Manhattan Murder Mystery.

Television:

Documentaries... you know about film noir and that.

Books:

Books that were made into film noirs. And JG Ballard (who I like to call neo-future-noir).

Heroes:

Everyone in someway connected to the murky world of (quite oftern rain-soaked) noir. Which I like. I also quite like Ken Livingstone.

From the glass key to the class glee

I was sat in the South Yorkshire greyhound hub, just off RotherThird. I had a paper serviette in my breast pocket with an ink inscription that was more confusing than a mardi gras masquerade in a hall...

A projection of water patterns

So I've been quiet lately. I'd lost the book of answers. And before that I was crazy like two waltzing mice... But then it happened. Some wisedoc who bandaged alley-cats up for red beans and rice once...

My hat was frayed, as were tempers.

It culminated with one heck of a carbon footprint. The type that's left on your cheek when the sleek diamond ringed-hand of a dame slaps you into next Maundy Thursday. But it started with an icec...

The Big Rinse

Okay, okay so a few days ago I was out wolfin. And I mean real taildragging. In fact I was dragging my tail to cover my tracks and my tail had it's own tail, wagging that tail. Yeah it was Gerry The ...

As boring as an ocean...

So there I was, in Harry's joint, sat at the bar. I'd just whistled for some ham and eggs. The ham tasted like it had been laid and the eggs were as tough as a boars back... But it still tasted good. ...
