See you next year!LEAP Haverhill (Let’s Embrace the Arts & Preservation in Haverhill) hosted the 2nd Annual Battle of the Bands at beautiful Winnekenni Castle on August 18th.
Bands from a myriad of genres including Cover, Rock, Reggae, Rap, Latin, and Country competed for a prize of $1000 cash plus a music video donated by RiversEdge Production and SoundsBeyond Recording Studio. The team from Haverhill Community TV recorded two tracks from each band that aired the first week of July. Viewer voting narrowed the field to seven bands who performed at the outdoor concert at Winnekenni Castle on August 18th. Headlining the show this year was American Idol runner-up Elliott Yamin, whose songs can be heard on Kiss 108fm and Mix 98.5fmThis is a grass roots effort to promote the depth of the music scene in Haverhill & surrounding towns and to give talented local musicians a head start. Denny Jensen of RiversEdge Production commented, “This is a great opportunity for bands to get themselves out there.”Each band that entered will get an audio CD and DVD of their 2-song audition, which can be used as a demo disc for future gigs. In addition their performance will air on several local community television stations and a photographer will be on hand for any band that wants to purchase professional photographs.
