"Its quite rare to find a local band who can produce a demo that holds both professional-grade music with a strong production value; look no further because Contra Costa band Cnidarians have achieved just that concept on their self-produced demo. The band is comprised of four friends who’ve worked together on and off again with various projects; consequently, this demo is proving to be the gentlemen’s finest production. Each track contains guitar work that runs along the lines of Sonic Youth distortion and the clean rhythm work of lo-fi heroes such as Neutral Milk Hotel; consequently, the vocal work echoes freak folk and Thom Yorke at various moments. Track lengths range from short three-minute tracks to nearly six-minute jams, which provides a pleasing contrast in the amount of time spent with each song. Another plus on the disc is the high level of production; everything is mixed to perfection with every instrument seemingly in its’ right place on each track. With such a rare occurrence for a demo, this can only prove to be a positive omen for a band that has the musical strength to push themselves to great heights in today’s lo-fi landscape."
