About Me

Promoter/DJBrian Botens aka "Dj Beloved" started his Dj'ing Career back in April of 2002. Starting off playing Happy Hardcore he worked his way into networking the Toronto Hardcore scene. After DJ'ing about a year Brian got into promoting. Starting up his own company known as Bitchass Productions he threw his first event "One Love" in February 2003. Pulling in a huge crowd he finally got noticed in the scene as being a well organized and trustworthy promoter. Being in the hardcore scene and realizing what it stands for, Brian already being called DJ B at the time knew he needed something a little more catchy. The hardcore scene represents a good vibe, love and freindship. From this he decided to call himself DJ Beloved. His second event "Symetrical Beats" was in September of 2003. This time he decided to go bigger but in the attempt ended up not doing as well. Everyone that came to this party knew how much money Brian had lost but knew he was still happy because everyone had such a great time. With this in mind Brian gained the respect he deserved and showed everyone that he lives up to the name he chose to represent himself.Brian fell out of promoting for a while after that but concentrated mostly on his DJ'ing skills. Learning that versatility is a key trait in a DJ he decided to start playing different genres of music. Starting off playing some UK Hardhouse he slowly worked his way into playing other styles such as Epic Trance, Club Trance and Funky House. It wasnt until April of 2004 when he reunited with an old promoter friend who had just came back from Florida that he started playing Florida Breaks. Teaming up with Josh Santoro aka "DJ Devious" they started a new company called KOC Productions or "Kings of Cheese". Tagging Breaks with residencies at Clubs such as Opium Lounge and 658, they started doing events that would turn Buffalo into a "Breaks point on the Map". Continuing to promote partys with Devious, Beloved started getting more solo gigs such as after hours at Ice Palace. Playing one night there with a DJ known as Influence battle style on 2 CD decks and 2 turntables, they spun for 5 hours straight. It was about this time Beloved started getting more noticed in Buffalo as a DJ rather than just being a promoter. But it wasnt till they played again on 4 turntables on New Years Eve 2005 that he started blowing up. Having residencies still at 658 and Styr Nightclub by spring of 2005 Beloved thought this is as big as Im gonna get. Or was it?The rave scene was dying in Buffalo. People appreciated the talent but there wasnt enough regular party kids anymore to bring in big names. Beloved hit a slump. By this I mean he was starting to lose interest in DJ'ing for just his close friends that came to see him. He started more going to local bars or clubs downtown that would play Hip Hop. After a few months of this he started finding that alot of DJ's at local bars just played music. No mixing at all whatsoever, just stop and play or trainwreck after trainwreck. Brian got fed up with it quick and started taking interest in learning to play Top 40/Hip Hop. Learning from his friend DJ Tom Angelo who worked at the local record shop Beloved found out that hip hop was not really any different than playing electronic music. It didnt take him long to make his debut playing hip hop which just happened to be at a club he used to hold a residency. Styr Nightclub. Now playing almost every style you can imagine Brian had found that versatility that he originally strived for.Holding down a residency at a local Bar called Ava's Place Brian was noticed by a local Professional DJ Company that specializes in Weddings, School Dances, Banquets and any such private event you might need entertainment. In the recent months Beloved has been working in the studio making mixed CD's, holding down his job as a professional DJ for Brisk Entertainment, Photo/Vid, Dynamic Sound, Solid Gold, and Sounds Great. All while still having residencies at Ava's Place, Elmwood Lounge, and OPM Lounge.
