About Me

The Maiden, the Mother and the Crone

Gary, Matthew and Sean... Matthew, Sean and Gary... Sean, Gary and Matthew... Matthew, Gary and Sean... Gary, Sean and Matthew... Sean, Matthew and Gary...
Whichever way you write it, there's three of us and we three have been writing and performing together in various bands since we were at school, where we met through our mutual love of music, noise and peculiar humour. And not one of us is Buddhist, though it intrigues Matthew.
The Way never does anything, yet through it all things are done.
Idea #93 was born after the only long period of inactivity we have had in the last eight years of bandship. Gary had been working on his solo project (When the Weather Reflects the Mood), Sean had been at university studying computer science while Matt had been recording tracks with Jonathan Hardy.
We started rehearsing again in October 2006, this time with Gary taking the role of lead vocalist after discovering his love for serenading random crowds.
During February of 2007 we spent time at Confetti Studios in Nottingham in an attempt to record Idea #93 ’s first CD under the watchful ears of Mister Andy Brown of Tibshelf. However, if plans existed, "things" did not go to them. Unfortunately, they seemed to veer violently away from them. Maybe the plans were scary...
So new plans were planned and arrangements arranged to record at Random Recordings of Nottingham during March of 2007. It's a modest looking studio from the outside with quite an impressive history from the inside. Mr. Guy Elderfield was the man with the magic and the devotion to develop our songs into the very long hours of the early morning.
The month of June was soon upon us and so the time had come to commit our latest audio gubbins to digital media. This time around we chose to use the all-singing and not-at-all random technical prowess of Mr. Mark Elmore at Crash Factory Studios, Nottingham. Four days and a whole lot of milkshakes later and we four had recorded six new tracks. Needless to say, we were more than happy with the outcome and look forward to recording with Mark again in the near future.
Please leave an opinionated comment.

Influences: Friends are a big influence, as they can affect the mood, which, in turn can affect our style of music. The same goes for the weather.
Artists of a musical nature that we (or any one of us) might occasionally class as "influences" could be (in no order of importance) Mogwai, Biffy Clyro, Explosions in the Sky, Jeff Buckley, Sigur Ros, Dredg, Tool, Squarepusher, Aphex Twin, Underworld, Radiohead, Led Zeppelin, The KLF, Boards of Canada, Jaga Jazzist, M83, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, A Silver Mount Zion, Autechre, Beethoven, Calyx, James Zabiela, John Digweed, Muse, Manic Street Preachers, Adem, 65 Days of Static, Chris Clark, DJ Yoda, Rage Against the Machine, Queens of the Stone Age, Deftones, Placebo, freeform jazz, Sikth, System of a Down, Four Tet, Klute, Incubus, Jimi Hendrix, Foo Fighters, A Perfect Circle, The Mars Volta, Orbital, Sunn O))), Meshuggah, Idlewild, Klaxons, Portishead, Skunk Anansie, Erol Alkan, The Marx Brothers, Gene Kelly, Smashing Pumpkins, Refused, Glassjaw, Nina Simone, Drumcorps, John Lennon, Luna C, Tom Waits, Do Make Say Think, Dragonforce, Huey Lewis and The News, gabba...
The point here being that anything can influence a person, from a mobile phone's message tone to a cute but bitchy Disney character to plain idiomatic speech.
We influence each other more than anything though. We listen to alot of different styles, which creates an influential foundation to allow us to influence each other. How pretentious.
Also, Sean likes Iron Maiden and Metallica.
Sounds Like: If numbers made noise.
