As their source of inspiration, the band fuses live music with sequenced samples and breakbeats. This futuristic hybrid of trip-hop, techno, soul and drumnbass has made Codex one of the most provocative acts coming from the Toronto, Canada music scene. 1996 is the debut year both for Codex and Canadian drumnbass: their 12" vinyl "The Remixes" is the first drumnbass recording released by a Canadian artist. 1997 LA based Cleopatra/Hypnotic record label, adds them on their DrumNBass from Toronto compilation Metro Breaks 1998 - LA-based World Domination Recordings seized the opportunity and signed the band right away. 1999- 2002 Remixes for Sony Esthero and Scoring for films and TV for HBO, CITYTV 2003 - 'the Vinyl Remixes III' released 2004/2005, 4th CD Chasing the Fiery Dragon released. 2006, Codex becomes 4(Eldorado, Shai Locke, Cool Hand Luke and DQ). Thus begins a new chapter of musical revolution adding jazz, funk, rock and hip-hop to the fusion. 2007, the new chapter, 'Ebb and Flow', is released.
