Guy Frederickx

I was born and raised in Belgium, and immigrated to Canada in 2002. I've been vegetarian for about 20 years, and was a co-founding member of the Belgian vegetarian organization, EVA (http://www.vegetarisme.be/). I am a (bio)chemical engineer by training, but have been working as a bilingual technical representative ever since I moved to Canada. The idea, however, is to move closer to my field in the future, but we'll see, I guess I have always been a bit of an all-rounder. Fortunately, life is not all work, and some of the things that I really enjoy doing, are to:
- Enjoy nature and the outdoors: hiking, camping, witnessing the change of seasons, listening to the rain, a thunderstorm or loons calling over the lake;
- Listen to music: I think that every musical style has something to offer, but I have always liked: metal (Dream Theater, Textures, Death, System of a Down, etc.), guitar music (Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, John Petrucci, Jason Becker, Uli Jon Roth, etc.), and classical music;
- Play music: I guess this basically means that I enjoy fiddling with my guitar :-);
- Spend time behind the computer: MS Flight Simulator, reading up on subjects I'm interested in, organizing myself;
- Eat and drink: I love Thai (vegetarian/vegan) food and I do like my beer and chocolate from time to time...I am Belgian after all! :-);
- Watch movies and read: no particular favourites, although I have always liked 'Grizzly Man' and 'The Shawshank Redemption' a lot. As for books, I tend to stick to non-fiction;
- Fly: I have been gliding in the past, and was planning to get my private pilot license this year.
