Making Things Harder Than They Should Be

About Me

Justyce Harmons is quenching the hip hop thirst as the newest female lyricist of the Chicagoland area. Born in 1984, Justyce began writing poetry and short stories in elementary school. Around the age of 10, she received her first cassette by the female rap crew Salt-N Pepa titled Very Necessary. This group along with artists such as DaBrat, Queen Latifah and MC Lyte influenced her by showing that women are capable of dominating a mostly male genre of music.Justyce’s talents were initially noticed by her middle school chorus teacher and she was chosen to participate in the auditioned chorale portion of the choir ensemble. During this stint, she toured local schools singing solo at one of the performances. The group even sang at Chicago’s Navy Pier.Justyce is not a veteran to the stage or to performing in a hip hop environment. In 1999, she and two neighborhood friends performed Brandy’s hit single ‘Sittin On Top of The World’ in the Sandburg Middle School talent show. The group received kudos for their creativity and dance moves which were choreographed by Justyce.Throughout high school poetry was the main focus in her life. She describes writing as a portal to an unrestricted society. During her transition to college, using the name TBaby, she contemplated writing to hip hop music and wrote short verses to songs on the radio. After transferring to community college she began sharing her poetry with others to read and received all positive feedback. The response encouraged Justyce to transition to writing and producing music. At that time since the name TBaby was being used by numerous other artists, she changed it to Justyce Harmons and began recording songs. She originally recorded with members of Knockout Productions but due to creative differences Justyce and the group parted. She continued to record and has currently passed out over 200 copies of her Trust No 1ne mixtape sample which includes five songs all written and produced by Justyce Harmons. She recently completed her first full length mixtape Animosity: Volume 1 and performed her hit songs ’The Battle’ and ’Mother Hip Hop’ at the Red Star Tavern in Aurora, IL. Currently, Justyce is working on distributing her mixtape, performing, building her production company and many other hip hop projects.Justyce is known as a determinist for her dedication to hip hop and her mannerism towards the resurrection of a dying culture. In her songs, she touches on subjects from battling MC’s to situations in her personal life. Her music is an inevitable indulgence to the nation of hip hop.
