About Me

THE DEFINITIVE RAMONES DVD CONTAINING OVER 5 HOURS OF MATERIAL!
“RAMONES RAW”

Climb in the van, buckle your seat belt and hang on tight because you’re about to experience life on the road with the founding fathers of punk rock, The Ramones! The band that started it all stars in this all encompassing video scrapbook containing OVER 5 HOURS OF RARE MATERIAL spanning the Ramones history making career circa 1979-1996, most of which is seen here exclusively for the first time anywhere!
Ramones Raw includes vintage concert footage professionally shot on film in 1980, archived and nearly forgotten for over 20 years, plus countless memorable moments from the band’s illustrious career, rare TV appearances, backstage footage and LOTS more all set within the core; a plethora of home video from the Ramones personal archives. Armed with a Hi-8 camera on the road for the final 8 years of the band’s world tours, Marky Ramone captured it all on tape; the good, the bad and the ugly, immortalized here your viewing pleasure. No. 1 selling Director and Ramones aficionado John Cafiero has culled the cream of the crop of “raw” footage from the Marky Ramone video library and then some, compiling and presenting it in a unique style that gives Pinheads and Ramoniacs everywhere an exclusive fly on the wall perspective that’s the next best thing to actually being in the band!
See Johnny, Joey, Dee Dee, Marky and CJ prove why the Ramones have stood the test of time with their simplistic yet immortal brand of music that influenced generations the world over. Also featured is an eclectic mix of guest celebrity appearances from Drew Barrymore, Carly Simon, Gilbert Gottfried, “Grandpa” Al Lewis (of “the Munsters”), Bono & U2, Debbie Harry & Chris Stein of Blondie and many more noteworthy personalities including legendary guitarist Robbie Krieger of the Doors performing the classic “Take it as it comes” live with the Ramones at the Hollywood Palladium in October 1992, touted by Johnny Ramone as “one of the highlights of my career.”
From their humble NYC beginnings at CBGB’S to induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Ramones have done it all. With “Ramones Raw” you’ll feel like you were right there with them the whole time, standing beside one of the most important bands to break ground since the Beatles led the British invasion.

RAW REVIEWS:
Raindance Festival programmer Ronni Raygun praised RAMONES RAW:
"A perfectly blended looney tune cocktail--directed and edited by John Cafiero and executive produced by Marky Ramone--the film approaches the documentary genre in a unique format. RAW steers clear of being painstakingly linear and keeps the pace moving by jumping from one insane childish antic to the next. No talking heads here, it's ripe with some of the best live footage ever shot of the band in their prime. The honesty of the film will plaster a perpetual smile on your face. You get the impression that the energy and jumpy nature of their music is in direct relationship to the playful personalities presented in the film. In the end, this is the closest thing to hanging out and touring with one of the greatest groups in the history of Rock & Roll."
In his three-and-a-half (out of four) star review for GUITAR ONE, writer Bob Gulla hailed, "The first officially authorized Ramones video is a joyride through the punk act's 1980 European tour, where 'fan' truly was short for 'fanatic.' There's a nice mix of silliness and music, during which they bear down on three chords, leaving only a cloud of dust in their wake."
Check out what other critics are saying about RAMONES RAW ...
On their first official DVD, the godfathers of punk appear on some downright strange TV shows, play adolescent pranks and shred through their live performances. Best of all is 'I Ramones', a long-unseen 1980 show taped for Italian television. Play it loud enough, and Judy won't be the only punk in town anymore." -- ROLLING STONE, (October 14, 2004)
"The Ramones, themselves loving satirists of America's trash culture, reflect upon their circumstances with a wry, winning wit in their trademark impenetrable New York Brogue...The supplemental material is impressive, a deep, rewarding archive of punk ephemera as befits these unrepentant kings of trash." -- LONDON TIMES
"Ramones Raw is a fitting, fast-paced funny retrospective on the lovable lunkheads' career...many of the live cuts are seen here for the first time, including vintage 1980 footage from Rome's Castle St. Angelo, starting, of course, with the classic 'Blitzkrieg Bop' and its "Hey Ho! Let's Go!" intro. The stripped-down power of the Ramones shines through as they remake rock 'n' roll with three chords and four black leather jackets. Together, they put a funny face on the threatening, angry punk movement, making it more accessible to mainstream rock fans who quickly took to their buzz-saw guitar, throbbing bass and simple yet steady drum beats." -- ASSOCIATED PRESS
"...fans of punk's godfathers won't be disappointed by the new DVD Ramones Raw. Featuring more than five hours of rare material--including a 1980 concert in Vatican City and home movies from the band's later tour of South America--the film offers a surprisingly candid look at one of the most important bands in rock." -- REVOLVER
"...the DVD Ramones Raw (out September 28th) is downright hilarious. The collection features rare live footage and slice-of-life material shot mainly by Marky while on tour in the late Eighties and Nineties." -- ROLLING STONE, (September 30, 2004)
"If a clip of the Ramones meeting The Munster's Al "Grandpa" Lewis doesn't cause heart palpitations, maybe the priceless prime-era concert footage will entice you to pick up the O.G. punks' first authorized DVD release." -- ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY
"relentlessly satiating..." -- LA WEEKLY
"This DVD will fulfill any Ramones fantasy of what it was like to get in the van with the seminal punk act." -- MEAN STREET
"This is a must have for hardcore Ramones fans, and mandatory viewing for all who enjoy punk rock in general...accentuated by excellent editing it is an opportunity for everyone to experience what it was like to see the world and the band itself from the Ramones' point of view". -- CHORD
"The Most 'MONES movie for your money. For Ramones fans, this is the Captain's platter, the deluxe package of live footage, interviews, TV performances, candid backstage moments and the kitchen sink (copious special features and Easter eggs) they've been waiting for. But the all-inclusiveness isn't the chief charm of Ramones Raw. Thanks to this DVD, we get to ride with the band from their gabba-gabba-heyday to 1996 and feel like insiders as the 'Mones endure their equivalent of Beatlemania and just be themselves, so we can see them apart from their shaggy superhero images. And that's just priceless." -- HARP
"If you even set your mouth to say that you are even a passing Ramones fan and you don't cop this DVD then you are full of shit. With over five hours of material that traces backwards and forwards through every single stage of the band's career, this is by far what could be considered the definitive work. Featuring generous amount of footage, both on and offstage, Ramones Raw does an amazing job of pulling you the viewer into their world. This DVD does an awesome job at giving it to us straight. Among the best inside views on an act ever." -- THE AQUARIAN WEEKLY
"The DVD's main feature plays like a lighthearted scrapbook of the Ramones...the prize bonus is I Ramone, a half-hour of concert footage captured in Rome in 1980, just after the release of the band's Phil Spector-produced album, End of the Century. Shot on film, it laid forgotten in the vaults of an Italian television station for two decades after its one-time broadcast." --BILLBOARD.COM
"This is a furious music blasting fury of good rock documentary. Included are live versions of 'I Can't Make It On Time,' 'I Wanna Be Sedated' and 'Blitzkrieg Bop' to name a few gems you'll find here. This is one DVD to pick up for your own rock and roll documentary DVD additions. The Ramones made a huge impact on so many bands. This (DVD) is something to remember the Ramones by for years to come." -- HIGHWIRE DAZE
"Ramones Raw lives up to its name. It's an intense, no holds barred look at this legendary band...a spellbinding work...there is one undeniable fact forged from Ramones Raw: when they wanted to, the Ramones could kick the ass of any other punk rock band in the game, either before or since." -- DVD TALK
