Bad Luck Blues Band

It's All Freedom

About Me

The Bad Luck Blues Band is a blues-rock band in the tradition of the British bands of the late 60's and early 70's. With the blues as it’s foundation, core and inspiration, the Bad Luck Blues Band has been playing festivals, concerts, clubs, parties and fundraisers throughout the Wasatch front. The band has recently played in the Blues and Brews Festival (SLC), Utah Arts Festival (SLC), Groovefest (Cedar City), Freedom Festival (Provo), Blues-a-palooza (SLC), Twilight Ticket Concerts (SLC), Brian Head Outdoor Concerts, Avenues Street Fair (SLC), and fundraisers for The American Diabetes Association, Hogle Zoo, and Ehiopian Relief. The Bad Luck Blues Band was also honored by the Salt Lake City Weekly as one of Salt Lake’s best Blues Bands. The Bad Luck Blues Band combines traditional blues, Chicago blues, electric blues, psychedelic blues, rock, and elements of jazz and funk. But the band is not a blues cover band and makes no pretense about playing songs note for note. The Bad Luck Blues Band adopts songs and makes them their own. The band allows the musicianship and talent of each of it’s seasoned members, along with the dynamics of the group, to define and interpret the song. The Bad Luck Blues Band has proudly shared the stage with Lafayette “Shorty” Gilbert (living legend and bassist for Eddie Shaw), Paul Carey (guitarist for RJ’s Rhythm Rockers and Alberta Adams), Rick Smith (Sax player for Alberta Adams), Bob Halaj (Bassist for the Chicago Rhythm and Blues Kings and Studebaker John), Jon McDonald (guitarist for Magic Slim), and local artists, Bad Brad Wheeler (Legendary Porch Pounders), and Neal Middleton (Royal Bliss)A Bad Luck Blues Band live show will consist of original songs, and songs of B. B. King, Buddy Guy, T-Bone Walker, Jimi Hendrix, Albert King, Led Zeppelin, Muddy Waters, ZZ Top, Willie Dixon, Eric Clapton, The Meters, and even Guns N Roses just to make it interesting. This variety is unique to the Bad Luck Blues Band and is attractive to those who come to listen and have a good time. The Bad Luck Blues Band debut CD, Live At The Metropolis, offers a glimpse into the bands more traditional blues sound. The band is currently in the studio recording a new CD entitled Cadillac Mama, and is sure to capture the variety of style and sound the band projects live.
