About Me

Okay, what can I say about myself? I'm good at spelling and grammar. I procrastinate. It takes me a long time to become really good friends with someone, but once I do, I'm loyal to the end. I'm almost always happy. I've been told that I have a great smile because of my perfectly straight teeth, but I've never had braces. I'm honest. I'm good at communicating and giving advice. I'm a decent listener. It is very rare that I don't have an opinion on something. I've been accused of being too analytical of situations and peoples' interactions. My two biggest vices are whiskey and potato chips. I love hiking and taking pictures.
What's my story? In a nutshell, I grew up in Loveland, Colorado for the majority of my childhood. I'm half Thai/ Caucasian. My dad is full Thai, first generation American. My mom can trace her family in America back to the 1700's. I'm the oldest of three kids...I have one sister and one brother. My sister and I have birthdays a day apart. I'm currently living in Newton, MA, but spent 8 years in Seattle, and one year in Lahaina. Seattle will always have a place in my heart because this is where I've met the man with whom I want to spend the rest of my life. He is honest, loyal, intelligent, kind and considerate. I couldn't ask for a better man or a better relationship. I've earned my A.A. degree in general studies at Seattle Central. Eventually I want to become a teacher. However, right now my life seems to be moving in a different direction. My mom is an international teacher and a great inspiration to me. She is a prime example of what it means to be a lifelong learner. Learning means a lot to me. I love researching new topics of interest. I also enjoy a rousing debate in politics.
I don't believe in organized religion. I feel that the majority of humanity's atrocities can be blamed on it. However, that doesn't mean I don't have my own individual faith that there is something "higher" and of greater energy than humankind. I'm an agnostic.
Agnostic- One who believes that it is impossible to know whether there is a God.
Word History: An agnostic does not deny the existence of God and heaven but holds that one cannot know for certain whether or not they exist. The term agnostic was fittingly coined by the 19th-century British scientist Thomas H. Huxley, who believed that only material phenomena were objects of exact knowledge. He made up the word from the prefix a-, meaning “without, not,” as in amoral, and the noun Gnostic. Gnostic is related to the Greek word gnsis, “knowledge,” which was used by early Christian writers to mean “higher, esoteric knowledge of spiritual things” hence, Gnostic referred to those with such knowledge. In coining the term agnostic, Huxley was considering as “Gnostics” a group of his fellow intellectuals“ists,” as he called themwho had eagerly embraced various doctrines or theories that explained the world to their satisfaction. Because he was a “man without a rag of a label to cover himself with,” Huxley coined the term agnostic for himself, its first published use being in 1870. (source:dictionary.com)

I'd like to meet:

I've recently moved to Newton, MA and really like it here so far. I'm working for an online trading company called Scottrade and am enjoying my new job. Overall, things are going well, however, it can be difficult meeting people in a new home. If you think we may have something in common, let me know.I'd like to meet people I can have wild and kooky times with like these crazy cats!!
