Chris Parks

myspace graphics & layouts Born and raised in Queens, New York, Chris began playing music seriously at the age of 18 after hearing Charlie Parker for the very first time. Soon after he met his mentor, the renowned pianist Barry Harris, with whom he still studies. In addition to performing both internationally and throughout the NY Metropolitan area, Chris is committed to teaching, which he has done at several New York schools including: The Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, The Lucy Moses School of Music and most recently at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is presently teaching at 'The Caldwell Connection' in Whitestone NY. Chris has had the pleasure of playing with many Jazz greats including Jimmy Lovelace, Jimmy Wormworth, Leroy Williams, Dennis Irwin, Lisle Atkinson, Murray Wall, John Orr, and Frank Wess.
