About Me

"I did not want to make an album where I plug in the same instruments on each song, and play and have every song only varied by the performance. I have far to much to say musically to even use the same instruments on two songs, unless it sounds completely different."
Sumlaam
Sumlaam composes all of his songs and performs all instruments himself. There is no band, just one guy forging his vision in sound.
His songs range from simple raw ballads to heart thumping rock! Sumlaam has a goal to capture the original sound of the late 60's and early 70's, but with a fresh edge. Sumlaam grew up on a diet of conservative 60's music when he was a child, bought his first album with his father at age 4, it was Gary Numan's "Cars" release.
At school "the Models" and "The Church" (Aussie new wave bands) caught his attention. Then a brush with "the Cars" whilst driving back home with his sisters friends from an annual family holiday when his dog was sick. The dog was okay, but he was introduced to "the Cars". It was his mission in minimalism and hard edge 80's rock that ignited Get Started and the songs to come.
Now signed to Red Mountain Records in Hong Kong where he resides, Sumlaam has the creative freedom to at last complete his songs and plant more seeds. The first album is due in 2007, and is titled "Kharmic Jukebox".
The new Album is unique, it is being made ONE SONG AT A TIME, no fillers, every song is a statement or message on life in the world today, and there are no restrictions to the sound, Sumlaam sounds as he does when the song calls for it, it is total artistic freedom...

Sounds Like: I hope it sounds new and original...

I like music to really reflect the mood of the lyrics and extend the feel of the song, not the music to carry the commercial appeal of the song.

I pushed for many commercial compromises to keep my vision on each song.
