I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I get antsy if I don't leave the country every two years or so, and I prefer to visit places where I will be doing manual labor. Besides that, I watch too much tv, eat too much ice cream, and once in a while, try to have an intelligent conversation with someone other than my shadow. No more B.O.H.I.C.A. (10 points if you know about BOHICA; is similar to NAFOD or SNAFU). Am fairly happy in a normal sort of way (wtfo??!). I am currently trying to be more positive in order to bring peace and happiness and that kind of crap into my life.

My Interests

Summer: beach. Winter: skiing. I love traveling. On my list of "Done Places:" Europe (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), England, Ireland. First steps were taken on a beach in New Zealand. Spent 5 weeks in Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Botswana working to make it a better world. Costa Rica: built a church and community center, translated; Cuba: fucking incredible. Lived in Guadalajara, Mexico, and Rio Cuarto, Argentina. Spent most of ages 7-17 on a horse. Won stuff. I overacheived in high school and now I'm pretty much spent.

I'd like to meet:

People I know from real life (question: is Myspace "fake life?"). I do not need to meet anyone new. I already have enough trouble keeping up with those I know anyway. People I won't like to meet: fanatics, zealots, neo-cons, assholes (unless pre-approved with an "asshole waiver" form), bigots, Bushies, hateful people, and Yankees fans. I have a half-Chihuahua half-Pit Bull, who is the world's most manipulatively cute dog.

Music:

Whatever my ipod tells me to listen to, I do it.

Movies:

Top Gun, Super Troopers, Hot Fuzz, Black Hawk Down, Office Space, Full Metal Jacket, Y Tu Mama Tambien, Guy Ritchie's stuff, Finding Nemo, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Shrek/2, Princess Bride, Happy Gilmore, Dumbo

Television:

ER, Dirty Jobs, Lost, 24, Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Law & Order, old MASH reruns, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, anything on the Discovery/History Channel, Animal Planet. I hate reality TV (except Project Runway, dammit).

Books:

Black Hawk Down by Mark Bowden, My War by Colby Buzzell, Bill Bryson made me pee my pants he's so funny, Mi Moto Fidel by Christopher Baker, Thieves of Baghdad by Col M. Bogdanos, Da Vinci Code, The Art of Happiness by the Dalai Lama, Million Little Pieces, An Unquiet Mind by Kay Redfield Jamison, He's Just Not That Into You, Mr. Maybe by Jane Green, Walden by Thoreau, Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight by Alexandra Fuller, We Were Soldiers Once...and Young by Hal Moore, Flags of Our Fathers, Jarhead by Anthony Swofford, the Bridget Jones's Diary books, Running with Scissors by Augusten Burroughs, Men are from Mars Women are from Venus, any book by Dave Barry, Bill Cosby, or Shel Silverstein, and Door to Door by my friend Tobi Tobin.

Heroes:

Oprah, Mike Rowe, my grandmother, the people who volunteer at Planned Parenthood, teachers, coaches, successful recovering addicts, Doctors without Borders, Brad Pitt (for his outreach projects), Bono, people who go to Africa and South America to be in service and not to preach, MLK, and Eleanor Roosevelt. I'm currently taking applications.
