About Me

Tamir Shmerling was born 25 August, 1987. His first instrument was violin, which he started studying when he was 5. He first discovered the jazz by listening to Herbie Hancock and, turning 16, began to play the electric bass after exploring bass greats such as Jaco Pastorius, Stanley Clarke and John Pattitucci. After graduating from the High school of Arts at his hometown of Ashqelon, he was drafted to the IDF orchestra as a bass player, where he met a lot of friends and soon-to-be colleagues.
