I'd like to think of my life as a Kenny Chesney video. I hang out on the beach (St. Thomas is nice) surrounded by sun, surf, sand, music, those who I love and inspire me, beautiful women, and Malibu Rum. This is not a wish or a dream, I'm just not there yet.
Currently, I "save the world" every third day for a living. When someone has no one else to call, they call me. When people are running to escape danger, I charge in to face it. This may sound arrogant, but it is my job, and there are thousands others who proudly do the same daily.
I have learned that there are three types of people in this world;
1. Those who are playing the game,
2. Those who are watching the game, and
3. Those who dont even know a game is being played.
After more than a decade of fighting fires and saving lives I was certain that I was one who was playing the game. After all, what's better than saving the world every third day?
Lately, however, I've realized that I was the third person on the list. I like to think of myself as being cool, with it, hip, but one day I woke up and realized I am constantly trying to get by while everyone around me was playing and winning the game. I wanted to play!
The difference now was not only wanted to play the game, I had a desire to win.
Being a hero has a way of stealing you from the things that are really important, my faith, family, friends, and finance. I had landed my dream job, however it was preventing me from enjoying my dream lifestyle.
With this realization followed by action, opportunity soon fell into my lap. Now I am excited to be on a fast lane to success. Whats even better is I still get to save the world every third day. Life is good.
Ask yourself these questions;
Am I really making the kind of money that I always dreamed I would?
Do I have a plan in place to support me if my current situation changes?
Am I really spending enough time with my family and living the type of lifestyle that I always wanted?
