A free mind equals a soul in flight - LIVE!

About Me

I am a person with many sides: mother, singer, poet, songwriter, student, fitness enthusiast, gardener, cook, best friend, soon to be the owner of my own business and that won't be all that hard since I am highly accustomed to traveling a solo journey in life and very comfortable with it.....I am from Western Mass. and a very spiritual and down-to-earth soul who just happens to be simutaneously positive and cynical, if that is possible - or, maybe just realistic. I am currently taking intermittent breaks from music to pursue other goals that are close to my heart since music is merely a small aspect of who I am. One of my best friend's, Chris Dixon, and I are the core of our musical project and released our first CD, IN GOOD COMPANY in August of 2007. We are currently in the midst of recording our follow-up album with the newest members of the project, drummer, Billy Klock, of Belchertown, and bassist, John Sarra, of Connecticut. Our sound is a bit bigger on the new songs and a bit more up-tempo and pulling from even more directions than the first collection of songs. The album was planned to be released by the end of the year 2008, but we have decided this time to take longer to tweak the sound and the production a notch above our last effort. There is no rush because the journey is the whole point. We are creating music solely for the love of the art and I have chosen not to be a gigging artist anymore. I am much happier with the creative aspect and recording and plan to learn how to make the best sounding album possible production-wise before I retire from music entirely. That is one of the best parts, for me - not boxing myself in. There are too many other things in life I am so excited to experience.Currently, aside from music, I am pursuing my education for licensure and national certification as a massage therapist. I have learned by working jobs out of sheer obligation for most of my adult life, that sometimes you have to leave so-called security and step outside of your "comfort zone" and take a risk and try your hand at doing something that makes you feel passionate and excited about life again...I know that the only rock I have in this life is myself. I have been drawn to the healing arts and wellness, fitness, and nutrition and all are an integral part of my daily life. I am having the time of my life at school and meeting some very amazing people along the way. I have always enjoyed continuing education. I am also a proud alum of UMASS @ Amherst 2001 with my B.A. in English Literature. Learning, evolving, and maintaining a sense of adventure and zest for life are essential to me. The only mistake we really can make is not taking chances. This layout was handmade with love by the folks at My space or yours? using original artwork by Marah Johnson. Go get one!

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: danyellajeannettedevino.com
Band Members: As long as I am doing my thing and being me and no one is telling me who to be or what to think, then I am at peace. Music for me is only about fun.....and, creativity, for me is defined by having no limits or being told what is or is not good enough. I am happily standing outside of the box and doing things my own way. I am loving the path I have chosen and that is all that really matters. At the end of the day being at peace with yourself means so much more than gaining approval from the rest of the world.
Influences: My list of musical inspiration is eternal...a handful of my faves include: 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, Damien Rice, Ray LaMontagne, Jose Gonzalez, Radiohead, Kristin Hersh, Nick Drake, Led Zeppelin, P.J. Harvey, Lamb, Sigur Ros, Solomon Burke, Marvin Gaye, Bonobo/Bajka, Jamie Cullem, Heart, Pat Benatar, Pink Floyd, Keith Jarrett, Goldfrapp, U2, The Rolling Stones, Jill Scott, D'Angelo, Me'shell Ndegeocello, N'Dea Davenport/Brand New Heavies, ZERO 7, Sia Furler, Mazzy Star, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Mandalay, Massive Attack, Tricky, The Call, Moby, SADE, Ben Harper, Nickelcreek, Joan Osbourne, Cinematic Orchestra, BENT, Bird York, Nitin Sawhney, David Gray, Norah Jones, Joni Mitchell, Diana Krall, Charlie Hunter, Charlie Haden, Erykah Badu, Astrud Gilberto, Shirley Horn, Patricia Barber, The Doors, and a million more.
Sounds Like: ..."Electric Sunshine." ~ Michael of Reality Eaters ____________________________________________________________ ____"...Playful acoustic guitar and earthy, soulful vocals are the essence of the sound on In Good Company..." (Northeast Performer Magazine)My music has been best described by Ted Wirt, a musician friend of mine: "Soul Music with a Gypsy edge." That about says it and that is pretty much a good definition of my personality - a soul gypsy roaming free and unchained.
