while jessica bailiff was in europe last fall, she recorded a couple of tracks with annelies monseré - and this gem is now available as a cdep.
Although it’s just the two of them, this ep has a very built-up sound, which is reminiscent of Jessica’s earliest output and Annelies’ most recent live shows. Vocals, guitars and cello- and keyboard drones get a very prominent role on these recordings, which were made entirely in the analog domain.
The cdep comes in a ltd. edition of 310 numbered copies, in an lp-alike sleeve, with partially handwritten linernotes by annelies.

This onesided 12" is maybe the most minimal but yet slightly melodic output by this analog dronebigband thusfar.these are two lenghty tracks recorded throughout 2007. this is R.O.T.'s first vinyl release since their celebrated album on (k-raa-k)3, and their second one on morc.
what to expect? as vital weekly wrote about one of their earlier releases: 'A noisy form of ambient music. (…). The music is not overtly present, but 'reduced' and 'quiet', with sounds arriving from a vast swamp of sounds..’
The lp comes in a ltd. edition of 175 copies, with silkscreened cover.

Long time morc followers
might know this release: this is the rerelease of a tape we released back in 2002. Though it was
recorded over the course of five years, this is probably the most coherent output
in the impressive back-catalogue of iditarod, with release on ao. Bluesanct, Time
lag and Camera obscura. The more direct songs merge perfectly with the psychedelic
tape and drone experiments. On this record, Carin and Jeffrey get support from
guest musicians Alasdair Galbraith and Matt Everett (Bonnie Prince Billy, Espers)
on violin, B’Eirth (In gowan Ring, Birch book) on harp and Margie Wienk (Fern
knight) ..o.
The cd comes in a beautiful unique cardboard jacket.

Old things explains why it took Jessica Bailiff so long to put out her third record. This album brings you a collection of rarities and unreleased material, recorded between 1999 and 2002, whilst also working on her critically acclaimed records on Kranky. Some songs have the familiar sound of her first records (Alan Sparhawk of Low still plays on one of them), but already hint in the direction of the more folky current sound.
Soccer committee - sC

sC is the first record by Mariska Baars from Leiden, Holland. Soccer Committee likes the act of endlessly zooming in on a particular sound; to try and follow its path to the point where it becomes totally inaudible. This attitude towards sound and music becomes clear when listening to one of Soccer Committee's extremely detailed songs, often driven by only a few notes, carefully placed against a backdrop of quiet colours.
