Danica Borisavljevic was born in Belgrade, Serbia. She started taking piano and music theory lessons at the age of 10. At the age of 17, she went to Moscow, Russia for the specialization in piano performance at Academic Music School. After three years in Moscow, she went back to Serbia to study piano with professors Kemal Gekic and Alan Fraser at the Academy of Art, Novi Sad. After receiving a bachelors degree in piano performance, she went to Miami, Florida. In Miami, she studied piano performance with professor Kemal Gekic at Florida International University. In 2006, under full sholarship,she received a Masters of Music degree in piano performance.She has performed as a soloist, accompanist and chamber and orchestra musician in Russia, Serbia, United States and Central America. She also composed music for short experimental movies. Her music for the movie "Awakening" was nominated for the best original music at March festival of short movies in Belgrade. Currently living in Miami, Florida she is exploring 20th and 21st century music in both classical and experimental genres. She is interested in extended techniques and piano not only as a keyboard instrument but as a source of various sounds. Her repertoire includes pieces of Cage, Crumb , Gubaidulina, etc. She is also interested in works of a young composers and pieces that are writen now. As a performer, she is exploring possibilities of expression of various emotions, states and ideas on stage though different media such as experimental videos with music, live performance of electronic music, body movements, etc. As a result of this exploration, she has been making short experimental videos with music using her stories (some of them are published and can be used as a separate form) as a scripts. She also likes to teach and in 2006 she held a masterclass at the University of Costa Rica in San Jose as part of the Fifth Seminar of Modern Music.
