About Me

Street Justice is a hip hop group based out of Inkster, MI (a small city located about fifteen minutes from Detroit). They have an original, versatile style which is a combination of East coast lyricism, funk and soul music. The group consists of four members: Clifford “Redd” Johnson, Chrishaun “Ketchphraze” Stanton, Julian “Jypsy Eye” Hearn, and the newest edition, their DJ, Mike “4mulaOne” Rogers.
Johnson, Hearn, and Stanton all went to Wayne Memorial High School in Wayne, MI, where they honed their craft by freestyling in the lunch room everyday. They eventually teamed up, after graduating high school, and were pursued by Corey Joe Riley, CEO of a local entertainment company, True II Life Entertainment.
In 2004, Street Justice joined forces with a solid management team, led by Redd's brother, Chris "Lightskin" Coyour, and was signed to True II Life Entertainment, becoming the label’s first hip hop group, and making their first appearance on True II Life Entertainment’s “THE Album” (2005) compilation. They released their first single, “Catch The Contact” (produced by the group’s own, Jypsy Eye), which became an instant hit with audiences. “Catch The Contact” reached number one on DetroitHipHop.com’s “Blazing 15” and stayed in the top ten for almost a year.
They kept a buzz going throughout the hip hop community by putting out several mixtapes (“Out For Justice” Vol. 1 & 2, “Soul Searching“), showcasing their lyrical skills and diverse styles.
In June, 2006, Street Justice was nominated for four Detroit Hip Hop awards: Best New Group, Best Single (“Catch The Contact”), Group of the Year, and Mixtape of the Year (“Soul Searching”). These achievements alone have elevated the group into another playing field, being called to open for such national acts as Obie Trice (Shady Records), Proof (R.I.P.) of D-12 (Shady Records), Royce Da 5’9” (M.I.C. Records), and Paradime (Beats-At-Will). They have also rocked live shows in Montgomery, AL, Columbus, OH, and numerous occasions in Windsor, ON, Canada.
Street Justice has prided themselves on being one of the hardest working acts in hip hop, citing dope lyrics and having one of the best live shows in Michigan. And to make their live show even better they added DJ 4mula0ne to the mix. They linked up by chance at a hip hop show at Alvin’s in Detroit in August, 2006, but the chemistry seems like anything but coincidence. They drive to bring the soul back to hip hop. Hip hop used to be about soul, pain, love, life, and death. Hip hop…REAL hip hop, is on it's way back. Let's all breathe life back into the world that we once knew, bring back the soul. Street Justice is coming with everything they've got. Stay tuned for the revolution...
Street Justice is currently working on numerous projects: “The Coffee House”, DJ Exclusive Presents... “History in the Making” (inspired by Halftooth Record’s producer, Oddissee), and 4mulaOne’s first project with the group, “Talladega Knights”. Their first full-lengh LP, tentatively titled “Justice is Served” is scheduled for release late 2007.
