KWAME STEVE COBB AND CHAVUNDUKA

About Me

In the spirit of self-determination, Kwame Steve Cobb and Chavunduka founded Cobbala Productions, Inc. as a vehicle through which they could contribute to positive change. For more than two decades these two talented artists have honed their musical skills while sharing stages with well known recording artists.
They are the writers and producers of the highly acclaimed recording call "Seven Principles," the first complete contemporary collection of original songs for Kwanzaa. Over the years, Kwame and Chavunduka have shared their vision and musical insights by developing and implementing cultural programs dedicated to the growth and development of youth in communities of African descent. They perform as a duo and with their touring company at various venues throughout the country. They’ve come to be known as the "Musical Ambassadors of Kwanzaa."
In the early 70’s through the mid 90's, Kwame, then known as Steve "The Cobb-Orator" Cobb, toured and recorded with popular recording artists Phil Upchurch, Ramsey Lewis, Earth, Wind and Fire, Roy Ayers, Stanley Turrentine, Anita Baker, Jerry Butler, Tyrone Davis, Bill Withers, Jean Carne, Ahmad Jamal, Charles Earland, Lonnie Liston Smith, and many others.
Chavunduka, pronounced (Cha-voon-doo-ka), is a multi-dimensional song stylist who comes from the school of artists whose music is not limited by categories. Her vocal repertoire draws from the deep reservoir and tradition of the great black music genres, Jazz, R&B, traditional African and Gospel music. Blessed with a three-octave range, Chavunduka possesses a distinct vocal signature through which she displays her soulful spirit and artistic brilliance.
In partnership Chavunduka and Kwame now aspire to deepen their already impressive body of work.
