Rob – President of Hatch Entertainment ChicagoRob has been involved in music since the age of five, carrying around 45’s and a Close-N-Play record player everywhere he went; even in intensive care with pneumonia he had Shaft to pull him through. Growing up in a home full of young people music was all over but his brother Clarence was his biggest influence. He introduced him to not only the Stevie Wonders and the Jimi Henrix of the music world but also to Frank Zappa, The Allman Brothers and Rahsaan Roland Kirk. It was at this time music became a constant, and what would become his profession. Rob studied music from age eight through College. It was during his high school years where he taught himself how to mix and became a well known Dj in the city sharing dj duties with Hula, Maurice Joshua, Frankie Knuckles, and DJ Randy (aka DJ Phantom). From there production followed with the group Risque III a group he formed with K- Alexi. They went on to write and produce two House music classics “Don’t you Know” and “Essence of a Dream”. The summer of 1987 Rob searched out an internship at BMG working in radio promotion. There he got adds for Tounge Twista, A tribe Called Quest, Steve Arrington, Robert Kelly, and Gene Rice. He also began studying Sound and Music Business at Columbia College. The Fall of 88 Rob began working at the Chciago branch of A.S.C.A.P. While at A.S.C.A.P. Robert signed Laney Stewart, Tricky Stewart, Jason Weaver, Angie Stone, and the Hip Hop group Blah Zae Blah who were signed to Polygram. While working at A.S.C.A.P. Robert began USBF-2 Studios with Roy Hamilton, which became a hotspot for Chicago Hip Hop. USBF-2 closed its doors in 92 and Rob became Label Director for Clubhouse Entertainment where Records by Ron Carroll, Ron Trent, Cajmere and the Outhere Brothers were flying off the shelves. While at Clubhouse Robert began his management career first with Blah Zae Blah, then The Outhere Brothers (“Boom Boom Boom”, “La La La Hey Hey”), a young Kanye "Mid" West, and Hula and Fingers (“Summertime”, She’s Playing Hard to Get”). The summer of 92 was pretty good. Rob took a job as a runner with his friend Chris Weathers where he learned stage Production working for Jam Promotions, the largest inde concert promoter in the country, Rob went from runner to Production assistant to running stages and shows himself: Lilith Fair, Dave Matthews Band, Rage Against the Machine & Wu Tang Clan, Smokin Groove Tour, The Roots, Goodie Mob & Fugees Tour, Farm Aid, U2 and Oz Fest.
