My name is Sylvette. I'm a visual artist. I paint in an abstract style, mainly with oils; however, I dabble at times in the 3D form as well in other mediums.
I am influenced heavily by my surrounding environments, by people that I meet, by relationships that are budding, and that are deeply rooted.
I am influenced by languages...spoken and the written word...cultures...artistic expressions...music.
Music is a tool that I use to ignite the creative process. I have punk roots that I will always feel connected to.... a familiar sound that envokes a surge from within. Yet, through the years, I've morphed ad spiraled into so many other genres of music that play an integral part just as well as in the direction of my creativity.
A studio session can consist of playing jazz for hours to some psychedelic funk to blues to indie.. to zydeco, to techno... . to garage thrash. I absorb it all depending on the mood. Certain instruments and various notes that are played trigger an emotional response, which I react to, and thus can influence me to the extent of what colors I choose to use, to what sort of movement the painting will take, to what type of tools I will use to work with. Each studio session is as unpredictable as the next.
I have exhibited throughout the states, and various areas in Europe. I show in galleries, cafes, bars, restaurants, shops... various events and parties. I'm always interested with working on projects with other artists. I'm motivated to incorporate all forms of experession.
I'm interested by great minds and talents. I'm interested by bodies of water, botanical gardens, forests, jungles, and rocks... severe weather storms.
I support the underdogs... . The experimentalists... all dreamers.
