My World Visitor Map!
Andy Thompson and Ben Grant began writing songs together in the fall of 2003. Not long after that they met Mike Felker and asked him to play drums, and Ben’s brother, Danny Grant to play bass. They were called nova for two years and played a lot of local shows. They continued to write songs and do shows and in 2006 decided to change their name to The Status. In June of 2006 they played their first show as The Status. In September of 2006 they recorded their first EP and released it in December of 2006. The single “Perfect Day†has gotten regular airplay on Atlanta local radio station 99x. They have been recognized as one of the up and coming bands in Atlanta, and won several contests at the radio station with the support of their fans. In may of 2007 they met Anthony Raneri, the lead singer of Bayside, who now manages the band, and became good friends with him. He produced several demos for them and The Status opened up for Bayside on their tour in June 2006. They were also recognized in Alternative Press as one of the top unsigned bands of the month in August of 2006. They toured the rest of the summer with bands such as Bedlight for Blue Eyes, Sound the Alarm, Tokyo Rose, and Kids Of Survival. They were in the 99x showcase at the Atlantis Music Conference in Atlanta, Ga and the Sidecho records showcase at CMJ in New York City. They have played over 100 shows and plan on touring full time in the next year. They are hardworking and are constantly demoing and writing new material and have a catalogue of original material in the hundreds.
More than just the music, The Status is inspired to make a difference in this world and remind people that there is hope. They are passionate about making music together and meeting people. They truly care about their fans and look forward to making many more in the next year with their plans for constant touring.
