About Me

Greenwich House Arts Announces Women’s Work 2007 - Fourth Annual Series of Concerts at Greenwich house Music School.
Greenwich House Arts has announced the dates and repertoire for Women’s Work 2007, a three-concert series hosted by Beth Anderson and presented by Greenwich House Arts. The concert will take place on three Wednesdays - March 14, 21, and 28 – 8 PM each evening in the Renee Weiler Concert Hall at Greenwich House Music School, 46 Barrow Street, New York City (between Seventh Avenue South and Bedford St.)
The 2007 series, with works chosen by the presenting ensembles and performers, will explore recent chamber instrumental and vocal music by prominent contemporary women composers from Asia, the U.S. and Europe, and ces of all ages. A distinguished faculty teaches beginners as well as those who are returning to musical study either as an avocation or with professional aspirations. Today, we continue the tradition of providing a performance series for the community. In the Renee Weiler Concert Hall, you can hear classical music and opera as well as ethnic, jazz, contemporary and folk music. More about Greenwich House Arts and Music School at Greenwich House .
Series host Beth Anderson’s music has been described as having “a refreshing simplicity without naivet..” and as –“deeply felt, direct, and yes, beautiful” and “charming and deeply felt to the point of romanticism.” Her latest CDs are a new recording by Nancy Boston of September Swale as part of American Women: Modern Voices in Piano Music ( CD Baby ) and Quilt Music (Albany Records), a CD of chamber music for smaller ensembles. An essay by Ms. Anderson about her music for American Music Center’s NewMusicBox web magazine can be read here .
