I've met enough/now i need to catch up on old times/ whetever happened to everyone/the grade 8 crushes the high school bullies/CONCERT BAND.....HELLO???/
The Ipod got me back into current music after a couple of years rediscovering Springsteen/Costello/The Band (still love it all). Listening to lots of Sufjan Stevens, New Pornographers, the Hold Steady, CBC Radio 3 podcast is a weekly must.
"I get window from a glass, he must get window from a glass. I get a step, he get a step. I get a clock-radio, he cannot afford. Great success". Can't wait for Spidey 3 in IMAX when I hit Calgary in May.
Sadly, my schedule consists of the NFL Network, and news from home. This 3.5 hour time difference means the wacky fanacky Sterling psychosis plays in prime time out here.
Anything from Newfoundland. Michael Winter's The Big Why was elegant, and reading Kenneth J. Harvey's Inside was like being punched in the fac repeatedly....and I mean that in the best way possible. I have never felt so INSIDE a literary character in my life.
I much prefer the heroes i meet every day. The guys working their guts out in the West to feed their families back home are my heroes. Its easy to sit and whine about things - but the oil sands guys and the fly in diamond miners are throwbacks to the real Newfoundlanders, the guys who built the Eastern Seaboard rather than suffering the perils of "poverty by homesickness".
