Dead Tree Snipers just performed their first gig opening for Phantom 4 in Clarenville, Jan. 28th. Mark Frost filled in on drums and did a superb job for not having a chance to practice with the band prior to the show. So, the first one was a success, hopefully we'll have a new drummer soon!
Dead Tree Snipersis a new edgy rock band based in St. John's, NL, Canada. Bassist Robert Green and Guitarist Dave Brinston have been close friends for years and decided to form a new cover band sometime during the late fall in 2004. They tried out several drummers and singers along the way and eventually met up with Ryan Piercey, and a good friend of his that played drums in January of '06. The four began jamming in February and learned 30+ covers over four to five months. Once the band felt ready to gig; Will, the original drummer moved out of the province which put the band in a bind. They didn't slack though; immediately started looking for other drummers. After trying out another 4 drummers....stupidly the band decided on a "so called drummer" who will rename nameless from here on in. Anyhow, biggest mistake of the bands existence so far. On the upswing, The Snipers have recently added Johnny Pitts to their line up. The Snipers are now ready to kick it into high gear again.
Dead Tree Snipers play edgy hard rock music for the most part. Covering classic bands from Led Zeppelin and The Beatles to Pink Floyd as well as modern bands like Pearl Jam, AudioSlave, Wolf Mother, Chilli Peppers, STP, U2, Radiohead and the list goes on. The band plans to embark on writing originals starting in January of '07. Keep an eye open for shows coming up anywhere in the province from Clarenville to St. John's.
