About Me
Wrap your mind around the spoon.
I understand there is a lot of controversy, along with a lot of interests in what’s going on with me, the company and a few individuals. Well here is my response. For those that truly know me, know me and what I really stand for. All that do not know me want to find out who I am and what I’m really about. So I figured we’ll start here. In the early eighties I was removed from my home town of Cleveland Ohio and transported to the small town of Radcliff located in the heart of what I considered at the time to be Klantucky. Imagine being taken from a city where all you seen where people of your race and then being suddenly thrown into a world you don’t even understand. Being placed under the rule of the very people you were taught murdered your Idols and leaders. Imagine coming from a school of arts to a school that had never even acknowledged the arts. Sure sports are cool but what about all those who aren’t athletes’ and for some reason or another cant hustle for a scholarship? What about those who had dreams of being something else but couldn’t because they did not have the access, nor the knowledge to acquire how to be something other than the choices placed in front of them? In this instance sports, medical field, military or just a regular shmoe working the local Mac D’s or working at the local video rental. Think about it for a second. Life where I came from was so much different than the life I was thrown into. So what did I do to fix the problem you ask? I’ll tell you what I did. First I researched the information I needed to get what I wanted. This is middle school mind you (grades 6-9). In our school we had predominately white students and those of us with color or other ethnic backgrounds had no choice at first on what was being taught in the school system. It wasn’t that the students didn’t want new curriculum, they just settled for what they were given and never uttered a word about it. Then out of no were comes this new kid with old ideas that became new to those who had never before experienced such a thing. I created a dance club for students interested in wanting to do more than what was in front of them. I spoke for the students, fought for the students, and won! We had achieved success! No violent confrontations just simple conversation. Of course the class didn’t last as long as I would have liked it to, but for that one instance I knew I had the power to speak on the behalf of those who didn’t know how to use their own voices to get what they needed. Me, one half-pint African American went into the office of white folks with authority and was able to change their mind. Not bad and good for you, you say? Yes I say. Here’s another great act for you. Same half-pint African American, but now I’m in high school being taught world civilization. I paid so much attention in the class I seemed to be the only one noticing that the book only spoke of Rome, Greece, Italy, Europe and parts of Egypt. No Africa? I see it on the map and I know they have a lot more going on there than just poverty and famine. Now around this time hip hop was in full bloom and I with it. N.W.A., Ice Cube, KRS One, Rakim And public Enemy were being blasted through my stereo 24-7. So my senior year in high school, my best friend and I decided to find out more about our heritage and where we come from really. With this new information we collected we decided it was time to do what no person had ever done before in the history of the school, start a black history class. In a school run by whites we only had two black teachers working there at the time. Do you think they were proud that we wanted to start this class? Hell no!!!!!!!!!! They feared their jobs would be in danger and they wanted no part of it. What madness is this? The only two people who you’d think would support our movement had basically shunned us!! “You kids are trying to start trouble“they said. Well never the less ladies and gentlemen the man with the golden mouth piece went into action once more. We asked first and they flat out said no, we got some our white friends involved, started a petition of all the students that wanted a black history class, we then presented that information and they said no again! Not taking no for an answer we figured out that the teachers get paid per head in the class room. Yeah that’s right… boycott! Impossible you say? At the start yes because we couldn’t protest on school grounds without being expelled and me having the mind I have found the loophole. There was a public Library directly across the street from the school not owned by the school meaning not school property. So we then asked the students if they would boycott the school for the black history class a few said yes the rest were worried about getting expelled. Those of us willing gathered across the street with signs that said honk for black history class. As we protested we noticed more and more students leaving school to come protest with us! Surely we understood that not everyone was really for the cause, but we also realized the more the merrier. The more class rooms emptied the less pay check they started to see dwindle in front of their eyes. At that very moment I knew I had them, but first we had to clear every one protesting so they wouldn’t face expulsion. A compromise was made no one got expelled, the teachers got their money and the student received a black history class. True story no B.S. I dint get to see the class because I went on to graduate3 or 4 months later but it lasted about a year and a half. Now who besides Martin and Malcolm has done that in an all white town? I personally don’t know of anyone. Given my ability to create new ideas it also came with down falls, such as people in a small town know who you are and judge you as they see fit so there was no getting a job for me, in their eyes I had done enough damage. So off to the military I went. Once again getting white people to give me what I wanted without violence. Two times in a row over a span of a few years. It’s possible to change their minds about how things work, when given the proper information on how to go about doing it, and if I the same half-pint African American could do it in a small town, imagine the same affect on a grander scale. The possibilities are endless! Proven fact you cannot change persons’ views with violence because people fear what they do not understand, and they react violently when they don’t know how to get their views across for someone else to understand. When we as a people learn to stand up and say correctly what it is that we desire things will happen! The power of conversation rules the nation. And stop being so damn selfish, spiteful and full of hate towards someone who has more than you, ask him or her to show you the proper way of obtaining it and ye shall have, you know each one teach one. And as for me I’ve done things some G’s haven’t done I’ve beaten white folks at their own game (The battle of words) and with the proper knowledge you can too. So when you see me chuck a deuce my nugg because I didn’t do it for money or selfish reasoning’s, I did it to show 1. It can be done. 2. For those who wanted what I had to offer but didn’t know how go about asking for it, and 3. MY PEOPLE!!! So when you can do that, then you’ll earn my respect! Revolutionary In Progress. Now stop trying to bend the spoon and bend your mind around it, this is what education in school teaches for all of you unaware! Unlearn!P.S. It is not my fault my people have fallen into holes and gaps but it’s never too late to learn how to get out!
